He's predicted to get a 4 year deal at $5M per.

Still interested?

- kingcong39

Would be more comfortable with 3 years, but I can handle up to 5M for him. Will the Caps pay him that with Samsanov there? Samsanov hasn't been that good.

He only has one year left before becoming a UFA.

That is a factor.

- kingcong39

Sure, probably a big factor. But that's like triple his Qualifying offer I believe.

To be fair to Gibson he actually had an excellent start to this season. It's just that he was so bad afterwards that it tanked his overall impact to his team into the negatives.
- TheSabresTaco

Gibson has had a god awful team in front of him.

I woke try and get him. Also Adams loves Gibson and has wanted him since he started the gm job

Vitek played better in the reg while Samsonov played way better in the p-offs

A 3 year deal is predicted at a low 7% chance.

Whos your pick then?
- DirtyDan

My pick would be trading a low amount of assets for Quick and extending him for another year. Fleury is a decent idea for one year, but he's stated he doesn't want more than 1 year deals. Kuemper for 3 years would be good too. I don't really like anything beyond three years unless we traded for someone like Sorokin, which of course won't happen.

I see that. He's earned at least 3 years, but I wouldn't write it off.

That's because his 2nd contract was essentially a second ELC type deal.

Trade for quick or sign fluery , as long as we have better than "decent" goaltending.

Who wants "decent " guys? Someone around here wants to be mediocre

Talbot of MAF seem like the targets IMO.

1 of those guys will probably be moved this summer.

- Boss34

Truly curious how the Wild value Talbot. He had an excellent 20-21, but very pedestrian 21-22 despite the amount of wins he accrued. I doubt he's viewed as negative value, but maybe we could construct a trade with Portillo to Minnesota for him and Fiala. Obviously more on our end but if Portillo is the main piece, the acquisition for Fiala wouldn't be much more detrimental to our pool.

We don't have a goalie, and I consider DK, Campbell, Gibson etc. decent. To me decent would work

lol

the sad fact that "decent" goaltending would be leagues better than what was provided this year.

Anderson and Tokarski were ranked in the bottom quarter of starting goalies this year.

To get "good" goaltending, your best bet is probably signing Kuemper to a Grubauer deal.

I would be very disappointed if we used a premium asset to acquire Gibson. I'll just say that.

If Anaheim took a 2nd round pick, I'd consider the option. That contract is just.. harsh.

Yeah I was just looking at him, you are right. Those numbers still seem wacky though with less than 80gms played.

I don't see Colorado letting Kuemper go. And I liked the idea of Fleury but hes like 38 this year.. how much longer will he hold up

I appreciate the contract estimate but I don't think he gets 5 a year. I'll give them credit though, they hit a lot on estimates.

Gibson could be a risky move, numbers trending down big time since someone compared him to vaslevsky.

I would think anahiem would be willing to mk ove that contract right?

Are they sold on him retiring in Anaheim?

MAF would sell tickets and smile a lot ...

18-19 John Gibson was absolutely dominant. He has been pedestrian for 3 years running. It's not ridiculous to think he could be a top 20 goalie in any season in the future, but if everyone is fine with spending big on another Linus Ullmark, then fire away I guess.
- TheSabresTaco

Bit of a reach there...unless you only look at the last 3 seasons.

Ullmark's highest SV% when he played 20+ games is .917...that's 5 seasons ( 2 seasons he played 20 gms on the mark)

Gibson has 4 seasons in which he played at least 35 games and had .917 SV% with 3 of them over .920

His play doesn't scare me, his contract with 5 years at $6.4 remaining does.
Cut his contract to 3 years at $5.0 like Ullmark...I'll bet all day long on Ginson.

I like the thought process, add fiala or marcus foligno....

I would almost be surprised if they add a forward.
I get the idea cody F neck roll eakin is still part of the vibes community...

first 3 years mean nothing to us realistically. Then the cap should go up so its really like paying a 5.4 ish goalie... which is very standard
