Sanderson gonna play with Sens if healthy. MDZ gonna be trade or bought out. I see yesterday that the Sens are interested in William Karlsson , I just hope not for the 7
- Crosside

If Dorion gets Karlsson DJ won't need to play Pinto. Gambrell means he doesn't need to play Kastelic. If Dorion gets rid of those young D Thomson and JBD Smith won't ever have to think about playing them and will only need to keep Sanderson in Belleville.

There's no need to buy out MDZ so maybe he'll do that. Toronto wants Dorion to buy out Murray so they can get him for cheap. Either that or retain a bunch of his salary and take Mrazek back. That's something Dorion would do plus throw in a sweetener to make that deal happen.

Why on earth would Ottawa be interested in Karlsson? Or did you read it on HF Boards where every fan that is aged 5 posts ridiculous rumours? lol
Dorion is moaning about 2 years left on Murray and Zaitsev's deal, so hey, let's acquire a 29 year olds contract that has 5 years left at 5.9 Million AAV to put Ottawa into cap hell. This post is absurd. Please talk real hockey rumours, not what you would hear from your kids.

Take it a step further, he goal totals the last 5 years are 43-24-15-14 and 12 goals this past season.
But hey Ottawa is interested in Karlsson.

Dorion shouldn't be allowed to make a trade with his job on the line. Look at what he has done when his job wasn't on the line.

You said your a lawyer, so you probably know that when you fired someone, you can put a no talk clause in the contract. Peter leaving for Quartexx probably gonna make more money. He was just here for preparing contract
- Crosside

Did you read what Shawn Simpson said about Peter Mac? He said it was Peter that recruited Zub and signed him, Mac scouted Zub for months and did the pitch to the player and his agent. He did far more than prepare contracts. Dean Brown and Gord Wilson said this week on the radio that McGuire worked more tirelessly scouting and working with prospects than anyone in management. That means more than Trent Mann too, pretty odd to hear this but those 2 were close to PM and knew all he was doing. Many in the org have said PM was massive on so many levels, that the hole he left was huge.

You do realize that NHL teams bring in numerous fired coaches to talk with them about intel from their old team and also look for intel on what the team they were with, thought about their org, their weaknesses and strengths. It is beyond widely known that teams do this, when looking to hire a new coach, they will bring in 5 of 6 guys to interview to gain as much as info as possible that they didn't have before. There is no such thing as NDA, like it doesn't happen in pro sports man. How long have you followed or watched pro sports? It seems so weird that you didn't know this about teams and how they interview the masses as they say to gain as much intel as possible from all areas. You think an OC that interviews for another NFL team to be an OC, or DC for that matter, don't give intel to the other teams when trying to get a job? Naive if you think otherwise.

AGM Peter McTavish leave the Sens to go for Quartex hockey
- Crosside

Move makes sense on a lot of fronts. McTavish is a lawyer. His hiring by the Senators came directly after he represented the banks and the NHL on a debt refinancing agreement with the the Senators.

Like McGuire, he would have been a direct Melnyk hire.

Will the Mann brothers move up and take on expanded roles?

Also, makes me wonder. Are ownership issues and LeBreton progressing more rapidly than we are being told. I believe the NCC announcement on LeBreton is due next week.

No sorry you are the clown as you don’t even know how simple things work in pro sports. Why don’t you tweet Simpson what you said just now?

yet you come here all the time to comment and read Sens stuff then probably run it back to those boards like a few have said on here about you before. Ridiculous.

I think Karlsson would be near to a free asset from the Sens perspective. He would be part of a Vegas cap dump, it would be ludicrous to propose resending Dadinov our way. Golden Knights are trapped wickedly hard against the cap. They have no goaltending having already moved Fleury and now in open warfare with Robin Lehner. Would Vegas go straight up Karlsson for Matt Murray? Probably not. It would be to good to be true.

The NCC Board of Directors Meeting is scheduled for June 20 at 8:30 pm. It is open to the public. It is expected that a LeBreton development announcement will be made at that time.

In trying to track down dates and times I discovered an interesting comment. The LeBreton announcement "will not" be the beginning of public consultation phase on the preferred plan. Rather the announcement will be about signed contracts and the beginning of a build phase by the winning group.

So, it is pretty certain that the winning bidders already know the decision and their legal teams are busy completing the details on the final contracts. Exciting times.

Pure speculation on my part. I predict that the winning bid will be a joint venture including Capital Sports (Melnyk Group) and Ottawa Sports and Entertainment (Minto, Ruddy and a lot of the big money in Ottawa).

If so. Watch for the Sens Foundation to be revived and for season ticket and box sales to take off. I believe the business community and charitable institutions have been holding their breath waiting for this to get settled.

Nick Paul wants $4m and long term deal.

He should get it. But, not a lot of teams with the cap space to complete a deal. Buffalo, Detroit? Seattle?

Would/should Ottawa revisit the possibility?

I like Nick Paul and think he'd be a great bottom six player but not for 4 million. I'd rather give that money to Connor Brown.

I've brought this up repeatedly. I'm not sure why he is posting under two names. Maybe just so he can get away with being mean to people who disagree with him but it gives the blog a weird schizophrenic vibe. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.

Very smart move on both sides of the deal.

Canadiens Montréal
@CanadiensMTL
The Canadiens have traded defenseman Shea Weber to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for forward Evgenii Dadonov.

Looks like Vegas has $77m committed to 17 players. Includes $5m for Lehner and he may be a no show at the beginning of season.

But I think this will shut down the rumour of a possible deal between Vegas and Ottawa involving William Karlsson.

Yes, I think so. I have Norris, Batherson and Tkachuk on the first line. Pinto, Formenton and Brown on a third line. I really like Formenton and Pinto together.

Second line is Stuetzle and......

Not sure where Joseph fits.

Multiple options for fourth line, some really good kids worthy of moving up and getting regular ice time.

But, I don't think you want to play Karlsson ahead of Norris, Steutzle or Pinto. I think you can do better if you were thinking of playing him on the wing on the second or third line. But he is probably not a good fit with this team, especially in terms of his contract and age.

I think Wild Bill is a high risk candidate to be magic beans. IE needs the right linemates to be effective. Marchessault and Smith unlocked him. Without them, he strikes me as a prime candidate player that could go the Bobby Ryan/David Clarkson/Milan Lucic route (IE immediately overpaid hamstring contract) in a new system. You can even see in his stats that's he's regressing to what his norm likely is, which is a good middle six center worth a reliable .5 ppg. A solid player, but 5+ is a lot to pay for that.
