Strome on being a UFA: "Obviously, my heart is here. The last four years, I've poured my heart into this... We'll see what happens. I'm getting emotional talking about it... I want to be a New York Ranger. I've made that clear to them." - jimbro83
The only way he stays is a very team friendly deal, like under 4 mill. Maybe even less. If he wants to be a ranger so bad here you go. |

I delivered mail on a broken foot and that was painful. I can’t imagine the feeling he had that’s why he was signed to be a Ranger tho. |

health is never guaranteed though, so do you take the guaranteed life changing money, or risk it to maybe make more or less? - Mtlca66
Absolutely, and that's the risk guys have to consider. Is 8 years/$40M (probably closer to $20M after tax) enough for these next 8 years based on my trajectory? For some guys yes, other guys would say it isnt.
I personally would sign a 6 year deal, somewhere inbetween the 4 and 8 year deals. You get your money and still have a chance to cash out in the future.
Crosby signed his long term deal before salaries took off. Plus he took a discount, but he only makes $8.7M/year. That's crazy when you consider guys like Seth franking Jones makes more than him. |

This guy they signed Gustav Rydahl is a monster of man. Maybe 4th line center. Could be an under the radar move
Here’s a nugget on him:
Rydahl is a physical powerforward who plays with a lot of grit. Loves to agitate opponents and takes advantage when players cannot handle their temper. Owns a decent shot, useful in boxplay and a tremendous team player. |

#NYR Ryan Strome says he'll find out if he needs surgery tomorrow... It was a pelvis injury. - jimbro83
Bit of a cheap shot there too, especially if it was enough to cause an injury bad enough to consider surgery. Strome isn’t Crosby, but him being injured had a ripple effect down the lineup.
Proud of us for not whining about it ad nauseam like a certain other fan base. |

They just can’t bring him back, I don’t care if it’s cheap. He can’t be the 2nd line center on a championship team. |

If he was playing with a broken pelvis that might be an issue. |

Strome is just like Copp, all depends on the contract and I think both have played themselves into bigger contracts than we’ll be happy with. |

Again hes like Copp, a great 3C and not a 2c.

First off, thanks to Jan for taking the time to allow all of us to vent and express our opinions.
My take… Galant out-coached. Dump and chase and cycling with no one in front of net was waste of time and a lot of energy.
5 v 5 was a prob all season because the guys refuse to shoot and crash the net
Need to find playoff players ! Clearly, Kreisler should be playing on 3rd line, Pan has limitations to his game, Copp was invisible and Reaves (while I love him) was out played significantly by Tampa’s 4th line.
Must go… Nemeth, Copp, Strome, Hunt, Rooney, Gauthier, Hajek, Braun, Tinordi
Consider trading…Nils, KK, Gorgiev, Gettinger
Gotta find players that CRASH THE NET and shoot.
That WAS the difference in the series ! |

#NYR Alexis Lafrenière: "I want to play in the top six, eventually. I think that's my goal."
No. 13 added that he recognizes where the team is at with guys like Chris Kreider and Artemi Panarin on the left side ahead of him. Said he can learn from them.
Alexis Lafrenière is very careful about showing respect to the vets, but also said, “My goal is to play in the top 6.”
Said he’s willing to move to RW, if needed, and will also focus on improving his skating this summer. #NYR |

Definitely, we would need to qualify him for almost 3M That's insane. We can't trade him because the whole league knows we are going to let him walk, and then someone will sign him for 1M

Happy too hear he will work on his skating this off season. It plagued him early on, was better as the season went on, his 1st step will be a priority. No questioning his ability to snipe.

There is no reason why he shouldn’t be on PP1 next year. |
