Can’t get his team to play 5v5 or have any discernible identity but no way you fire him
I get it. We made the ECF. That’s awesome. Was a nice surprise and a hell of a ride. I don’t know if he’s the guy to take us further for the reasons you yourself mentioned. But I’m guessing we’ll find out. Hope he is - picklerick
Completely agree about system. But, if you don't think they built an identity off of 31 come from behind victories, you're kidding yourself. |

Comeback kids is a cool moniker but like… great forechecking or high powered offense or lock down D are all styles of play. What was ours? Having to come back that many times is not ideal or sustainable obviously. |

Gallant seems to be a players coach and great motivator. They played hard for him and had great comebacks all year. Under torts and av they had clear identities is what I’m saying here. Historically he had good 5v5 teams so not sure the disconnect this year |

The Rangers should sign Kadri and trade for Marchand and Wilson. Then, along with Trouba they'd have The Four Horseman of Headhunting. Imagine the marketing possibilities. |

Also it is so completely typical of Rangers fans suggesting that the coach should be fired after making the Conference final with a young, inexperienced team after missing the playoffs for five years.
Rangers Fans Annual Rituals:
1. Demand coach be fired
2. Demand they sign the best UFAs
3. Trash new coach and UFAs all season long
4. Repeat after season is over

Well you can also look at it that they were behind in all of those 31 come from behind victories too!! |

Less than 48 hours removed from losing game 6 of the ECF and we're already firing the coach and purging the lineup. |

People have a sour taste. It’ll pass. Facts are they far exceeded anyones expectations. No one should or will be fired. Build on this entire season, the good and bad. Learn what they can do better and grow from the 20 games they played. That’s what will help the most imo…playing so many playoff games. They got a more than a taste and had success doing it
It is a very very good time to be a fan of the NYR |

Exactly. Went from pretender to contender in one playoffs. Deep run to the ECF and a close series against the 2-time defending champs. 30 minutes away from a 3-0 series lead. It might be disappointing for Rags fans on how it ended, but it was a great run that built some respect. Nobody is going to take the Rangers or Shesterkin lightly from here on out. Young group. Let them learn to hate the bitter feeling of losing a close series and come back next year hungrier and more experienced. No major changes needed, just some tweaks here and there.

This Rangers squad overall wasn't as deep, yet needless to say, playoff experienced like Tampa, in first having the youngest average age of all 16 postseason teams, besides one of the youngest overall entering the regular season. So Gallant's scratching of Kakko in Game 6 wasn't the reason for their elimination & prevention of a final chance at reaching the Finals in a possible Game 7 at home. Among part, the 2022 Vezina Trophy winning favorite & league MVP contender in Shesterkin finally met not just his closest & likely only other current match in net, but also one greater experienced coming off back to back Cup wins, in the NHL's proven postseason's elite in Vasilevskiy.
Most surprising with Kakko being Gallant's decision to sit that game wasn't the obvious of how you scratch him after contributing the entire playoffs on their successful "kid line." Nor to suddenly out of nowhere play instead an extended period sitting Dryden Hunt; or worse an injured Ryan Strome who struggled alone with his overall skating ability since returning in Game 5 from his pelvis injury officially revealed today, which he suffered early in Game 3 forcing his exit after only 7:22 of ice time.
Of most surprise with Kakko's scratching after contributing in 5 earlier elimination game wins in Rounds 1 & 2, is this is the same improved player who Gallant raved about & praised during mid season, & extended a deserved expanded role to, (including on the PK). That for loving his ability, team play, attitude, devotion, & more. But still, why suddenly turn now on Kakko if per Gallant's reason, "trying to win a hockey game," to end in turn, a then 3 game postseason losing streak, with that game obviously being also their 6th elimination one to be played this postseason? |

#NYR Kaapo Kakko said no one gave him any explanation for the decision to scratch him. He just saw the lineup.
For real though |

Ryan Reaves says he's very comfortable with his role on the #NYR, added that it sucked to get scratched in the playoffs, but that he's honest with himself.
"I was dogpoop in Game 4," he said. - jimbro83
Reaves needs to reshape his body this summer. Less weight, more reps and a strict diet. It's the NFL workout plan for guys over 35 who want to stay in the league. You need to play lighter. Heck, it worked for Kreider even if it was accidental. LOL

Really? What was the date of when they won the Cup in 1940? Betcha is was before June 13th. So that makes it more than 82 years. But hey, if you want two, you can have it! |
