Still, games 6 and 7 vs Carolina and games 1 and 2 vs Tampa, Rangers played flawless hockey.
It was thrilling. Tampa is just great and we ran out of gas. - jimbro83
I think it's important to note too, that we were up 2-0 in game 3. We were a period and a half from going up 3-0 in the series. You can only learn these lessons in playoffs by going through it. I really thought we had them but as time went on, these guys looked beat. I'm proud of this team. |

Igor is fantastic...
Free KK.. Gallant is really making a mess of it the longer this goes with no rational explanation. |

Habs fan....was rooting for the Rags.....Gallant has already overstayed his welcome.....what an exciting young core in NY.....but a shame they couldn't overcome the stifling Lightning D......boring but effective.... |

Great series, Lightning took over the neutral zone and the Rangers had no counter for it. Watching Tampa these past few years they just sell out and stick to their structure so well with a calm that other teams haven't mastered.
Rangers have a great goalie, number one d man, and offensive weapons to keep doing this for years to come if they play it right. Good game Rangers, what a battle to the end. |

What’s weird about the Kakko thing is Gallant’s response to it for sure
Normally he would just say something bland that “this is the group I thought gave us the best shot” something like that
But he’s actually angry about the topic, and there were some rumours spreading about it being something discipline related, but that’s just complete speculation
I would have personally kept playing Reaves and a Kakko myself. But I still don’t know if we score more goals either way. - jimbro83
What did Kakko Frank gallants wife or something? Any other discipline could wait till after the playoffs lol |

Jan, Thanks for all you do. Always great writeups.
It was a great year, and the future is bright, but we need to figure out a way to win a series in less than 7 games, which we almost always seem to do. Sprinkle in some rest along the way so we don't run out of gas |

They were not winning with him in but that was a horrific coaching decision. Especially with strome hurt. There is no silver lining there |

Bummer. If the play in front of Igor was just a hair better this could've been more interesting. I still don't think they'd have even gotten past Pitt without his mutant goalie powers....with that I'm going with the phrase 'It was fun while it lasted'. Time to rest. |

As always, spot on Jan and thanks for another great season of writing, its always a pleasure. Some of the other blogs are screaming for Gallants head along with questioning his motives and moves. Agree some were a little bit of head scratching to understand but hes in thr room and we need to trust the guy. Good or bad its what we have. Personally I’d like to thank the NYR organization for a really fun year! It was a learning experience for alot in thr team. So freaking young and to providebus with a trip to the ECF, wow! What a ride. Yes disappointment is there but if I wrote on this blog back in October or even in January that thisbteam would take the back to nack champs to game 6 of thr ECF y’all would have locked me up! The kids/ team got a taste of what it takes, the sacrifices made, the buy in and the ability to give every ounce of blood sweat and tears. Playing though all thr pain and injuries. These men are true warriors and deserve all the alcodes forba season well done. I would have never expected where we finished. I do hope the taste ledt in their mouths leaving Tampa stays with them till next year! LGR!!! And again Thx for a great year |

We will find out tomorrow who was injured and how bad.
Very sad day
That’s a great team over there, Lots of Kudos to Mr Stamkos - jimbro83
Yeah he had a hell of a series. Crazy how he was almost a ranger after his slow start to his nhl career. Didnt slats pretty much have a deal in place. Just interesting thinking how much different these teams would be had that happened. Either way im happy the direction we are headed in. Disappointing ending but was a hell of a run. Hope we add some depth to the third pair d and finally fill the 2nd line center. Hope this also humbled krasvtov and he comes ready to earn a spot |

Pretty much this. We took the 2x Cup champs to game 6 of the ECF. Pretty proud of this team!
Some lineup changes need to be made for sure, we'll see what happens in the off season.
Thanks for another great season Jan! |

Rangers don’t have a first and not trading that much for a player with one season left on his contract. |

Thanks Jan for some great reading all yr. As a Rangers fan dating back to the Old Garden and mid 60s I have to say this was one of the most entertaining seasons . Team grew as the regular season went along and exceeded expectations. Winning rd1 against the Pens and seeing their fans whine even to this day so much fun. Fact is in game 7 with everything on the line and Pens with a full roster Rangers beat them. Beating Carolina ,which would have been in 4 straight except for Raanta in games 1 and 2 ,was a tremendous accomplishment. Losing in 6 to Tampa with 3 of losses by 1 goal ( exclude EN goal) nothing to be ashamed of. Tampa defensive structure and forecheck after game 2 was dominant and Rangers had no answer. Future for an extended run is very bright. We all know what we need going to be interesting to see how Drury addresses the needs. Hoping to be around a few more yrs to watch this team continue to grow and enjoy some great hockey |

Glad they worked that out quick. I really hope he changes his attitude and matured a bit after seeing how the team faired without him. I still believe he can be a top 6 forward in the league. Just hope he comes over rejuvenated and ready to prove himself. |
