Why are Toronto or Calgary trading either of those guys - picklerick
Quoting the rumors out there. Agree, would never trade those players either but cap issues change things |

I was just kidding. I managed to not get chased out during round 1 so I figure I'm pretty safe now.
And as long as I'm here, I'm surprised none of you have mentioned Chandler Stephenson as a possible center solution. Vegas is in serious cap hell, and with Eichel there he's back to their 3rd line, so you might be able to pry him away for the right deal. Solid top 6 center who proved he can play with elite talent, really good defensively, kills penalties, over 50% on faceoffs and signed to an absolute steal of a contract. - Pags
Stephenson isnt who you trade when youre in cap hell, hes exactly the guy you dont trade.
I could see Vegas trading Dadonov, Karlsson, Martinez before they move Stephenson. |

That’s a good one to bring up, he’s an all around player. I also like Nick Roy on Vegas
I think that’s area to look for a player tho. They don’t need a “big name” sorta speak. And overpay in assets or term for them. The have to be careful in regards to keeping their own guys down the road
I think they’ll have Zib and Chytil as the the top 2 centers (in ice time) with Laf and Kakko (I think he’ll still be here) getting more minutes. And like we’re taking about getting a center via trade. A real good middle 6 center added to the core. Zib and Kreider stay together, maybe with Panarin |

Panarin zib Kreider
Laf chytl Kakko
Vatrano/Othman ? Kravs
Motte Goodrow Blais
Laf and Panarin could interchange. The 3c has to be a good two way center that win draws. Jordan staal type player. |

Brooks' column on Kakko. Love the last paragraph:
"Maybe there is more to the story. Maybe either Gallant or Drury will actually address the issue (scratching Kakko) in their postseason press briefings.
That would be helpful." |

I could see Vegas trading Dadonov, Karlsson, Martinez before they move Stephenson. - aecliptic For sure Dadonov, but the other 2 will be hard to move. Martinez will be 35 soon, hasn't played more than 60 games in 5 seasons and still signed for 5+ for 2 more years with a 16 team ntc right now. Karlsson would be a little easier but still tough. He's 29, signed for 5 more years at 5.9 per and a 10 team ntc. He's been injured each of the past 3 and in reality is a 50 point guy and who knows if he is even that not with Vegas's 2nd line. Both will cost assets to move which Vegas don't have much of. They are at the cap with only 17 players signed, so they can't retain on anyone. They desperately need NHL ready ELC's which is something the Rangers lead the league in. If you offered them a forward and a D prospect plus maybe a 3rd or 4th, they'd be stupid not to jump on that.

The thing is the cap space Stephenson would free up is hardly helpful for them.
They could also explore trading Pacc. |

Nils for Nicholas Roy
Theyll save money since Roy is an RFA due a raise. He’s 25 yrs old, 6’4, natural center I believe (48% on draws). Decent production for a 3rd line center, w/ 39 pts. +12 so he’s responsible too |

For example, if you send them a kid forward who is ready and they use him to not re-sign Reilly Smith, that's another 4 million in space. Or plug in a D prospect and move McNabb, that another 2 million in space. It gives them options.

Who cares what we gave up to get him. If he’s not the right fit why sign him? So we can hate him for the next 5 years? He served his purpose but he’s clearly not a top 6 player but he’s going to get top 6 money. Move on. |

Copp will likely get a 5x5 deal.
To say he didnt fit is bonkers, he fit in seamlessly. However I wasnt expecting him to be out 2C, I wanted him to be our 3C with the potential to fill in on the 2nd line. |

Right, but at 5 million he’s not the right fit. He served his purpose. Time to move on. No sense signing him to a contract we’re guna hate for 5 years just bc of what we gave up to get him. |

This is the Goodrow signing/situation all over. 5m for a guy that will score 50 pts, wins faceoffs at a very good rate, plays defense… essentially a 200ft player is a very good contract.
If he was a total dud, Id say yea, cut our losses, but he wasnt. The guy fit in immediately. Im really having a hard time understanding how hes not the right fit. |

Funny thing is Copp was over 50% at FO in WPG and under 50% with us. Gotta be something in the water |

Pretenders? I dont think making it to the ECF is something pretenders do.
Leave it to the Sabres fan to say something like that. - aecliptic
U almost lost to PIT in round1
Got lucky Crosby was hurt, or you’d have lost in 5 games
Don’t be all butthurt, it was an honest critique
You’re not gonna be legit Cup Contenders without more scoring |

Every fan saw this during the year 5v5. It’s not like they have a poopty roster. They were a playoff team just not contenders - nyrangers2
Yep
U guys should try n bring back Jt Miller

I definitely wouldn’t dismiss the chances of Copp being brought back.
A tough 6 game series vs Tampa isn’t going to change it if they plan on committing to him long term |

Like i said before, “pretenders”
Hard to win a Cup relying that heaving on your goaltender & not being able to consistently put the puck in the net
Rangers are gonna need to score more if they want a legit chance to go all the way - jdfitz77
Yeah, and we played about 6 more weeks of hockey after your astute proclamation. And now you're back to double down on how (frank)ing stupid you are.
Like there's anything you know about this team that we don't.
(frank) off, loser. |
