I would go as far as Mrazek, Kerfoot and a 2nd round pick for Gibson.. Kinda wish we knew the 10 teams he won't agree to be traded too.. - PatC80
Agreed. Save Holl for a trade to Arizona. |

Is Mrazek a total wash out?
Leafs do not need to have to have a spectacular regular season result. They need goaltending that is good enough to keep them in the middle of the pack and set them up for an end of season and playoff run.
Is it possible Mrazek could keep them close enough to gain a solid playoff position? The Leafs could then make a huge play at the deadline for an elite goaltender at $.20 on the dollar against the cap. - spatso
Can't believe you ignored my question a few days back. I really wanted an answer. |

Mrazek is a total washout and near the bottom on most goalie stats I’ve seen. Buy him out or trade him with $ retained. |

You were talking about Colorado being in a great spot with so much CAP space and I asked why a team would be stupid enough to trade them a top pick so they could draft Byram on top of it all.
It's like that teams GM hoped and wished for Colorado's success. |

The picks don’t do a lot to help with the “win now” strategy - Canada Cup
Yeah, I think it's probably a good proposal, just takes away a bit of the Leafs fire power that they want to push for the Cup.
Maybe turnaround and swap the picks for something else? Chychrun? Someone else? |

I don’t see it that way. If I’m dealing with the Ducks, I’m looking for a goalie. If there are other things I absolutely have to do to make a deal, then I consider those things but this is way too much.
If we’re looking for another forward, is Comtois the guy? We’re giving up two forwards for a rental.
I’ve said before I’d rather deal with Mrazek separately, just buy him out or do a straight out trade. Adding such a negative value into an important trade makes getting a goalie - a top priority - unnecessarily complicated.
I’m talking more in general terms |

Actually that is pretty astute observation.
Sens and others (Nashville) tried to put together strong playoff rosters. They had short term success but fell off the pace very quickly in subsequent years. Worse than helping Colorado, the Sens also provided the Rangers with their #1 centre when they traded Zibanejad for a journeyman because he had some good playoff results.
The following irony should not be missed on anyone. Only a couple of years later, the Sens traded Karlsson to San Jose for their current #1 centre (Josh Norris) with 35 goals this year and Tim Steutzel far and away their most dynamic talent.
Chicago is now quickly moving to a rebuild model. Watch how quickly teams offer up strong draft picks and prospects as the Hawks make a full frontal assault on winning the Conor Bedard sweeps.
Every year you will see some team that thinks they are closer than what they are. They sell their future to try and make a run in the playoffs. What goes around, comes around.
