Wouldn't Risto be a great #6 for us? He could focus 100% on being an elite skating goon. Put on another 15lbs of muscle and just kick the crap out of people for looking at Dahlin. 14 minutes a night. Perfect fit. - lacaprup

Honestly if he was cheaper, he would be a great #6. We always played him way too far up the lineup. I think he would of been a great bottom pair defensemen. Got rushed in our system |

I do love goonery. Risto could be a great goon if that were his only job, but 5 million is a handsom price for a goon. |

It depends, and so many factors.
Certainly the 3 who haven't signed is justified cause to rethink the strategy.
College is great in that the team retains their rights for a year or two longer, thereby enabling longer development time. The downside is what we are seeing now with those 3.
The higher the draft selection, the higher the risk to the team (although Levi was what a 7th), so it is more a consideration I would guess if it is a choice between two or three relatively even prospects.
The other thing is, become an NHL team/organization that is a destination and a strong record of development/graduation of prospects ... hopefully that reduces the risk of players second guessing if they want to join that team.
Long story short, it is a factor to be weighed. - IonSabres
Couple very good points.
Especially the higher the pick the higher the risk
That's where I wonder how KA and company feel about college bound players and the (3) 1st rounders.
A team like the rangers might be able to draft college players confidently.
The Sabres may have a problem, I hope it's just circumstantial with levi and portillo.
Johnson is still questioning a pro career? |

wonder if cody glass is available and if so what the cost is - homiedclown
Turned into quite the playmaker for the Preds affiliate. Think holding cost for them would far outweigh what I would be willing. But cheap enough he's a good AHL body at least. |

Really need to get away from the idea that college players are the bigger risk.

Seems like a wasted asset.
Bad business move, despite recouping a draft pick years later. |

One of the issues is he thinks he's too handsome to be a goon 😆😆 |

Wild will get a comp pick this year for Filip Johansson. Is that the first ever awarded?
This isn't common, or unique to college players.

Exactly- how many Stanley cup rings do the wild have?
I'd be concerned if I were KA and went 0-3 a month ago on the big 3 NCAA prospects |

They are 3 very different cases....and you're cutting Power out.
This shouldn't factor into their 1st round picks at all. |

1-3 if you include Power, the most important one. |

Funny let's stay away from college kids no matter how good they are, because they might not sign with us. Well maybe if you actually tried to make it look like you want to win, it probably wouldn't be a problem. |

Andrei Kuzmenko could make a decision in the next week or so on where to sign, per TSN's Chris Johnston.
Kuzmenko finished visiting with NHL teams on Friday with a stop in Vancouver. He also went to Edmonton and Vegas during his free-agent tour. Kuzmenko is expected to agree to a one-year, entry-level deal regardless of the organization, so his trip was about finding the right fit. The 26-year-old forward accounted for 20 goals and 53 points in 45 games for SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL during the 2021-22 season. He also added seven goals and seven assists in 16 playoff contests.

If KA’s options at 9 were Kemell, Lekkerimaki, or Nazar, who would you guys like to see drafted? |

That's a tough one Prince, all good players in there own aspect. I am not as high on Kemell as others, I probably would take Nazar. I just really like the way he plays, and I thank 39 for that. Really wasn't looking at him to much until he said some stuff, kid is just a dog. |

Johnson and Portillo are on the prospect camp invite list. If they don't show, then I'll be worried. |

Portillo is waiting on the investigation and if Pearson is coming back, not looking to good there, they just hired a outside Lawyer firm. |
