So would anyone trade Girgensons for Calgary's 2nd and Lucic if he waved.
- Buff36

So we're giving Calgary the better player, and more cap room, and only getting a 2nd back?

Isn't Zemgus worth at least a 2nd at the trade deadline for a contending team?

No thanks on this deal, as I'd expect to get Lucic and Calgary's 2nd for future considerations, considering their cap issues with the players they need to sign.

They have ~$27m in Cap space, signing Johnny, Tkachuk and Magi among others likely chews up the vast majority of that....and gets them to ~15 players signed.
They got some work to do.

Bump that '22nd to '23 1st top 3 protected. Final offer.

This was on CapFriendly, I personally wouldn't do it, atleast with Lucic involved. But I would think about it for there 2nd. Girgs hasn't been healthy in over 2yrs

Yeah saw that on Evolving Hockey, just going of what Pagnotta said last night. 3 to 4yrs at 3-4m a year
- Buff36

I wonder if his value dropped a little with his playoff performance.

Regardless, there will be lots of interest in him.

I'm waiting to see if Adams is allowed to sign a player for longer than three years.

Andrei Kuzmenko could make a decision in the next week or so on where to sign, per TSN's Chris Johnston.
Kuzmenko finished visiting with NHL teams on Friday with a stop in Vancouver. He also went to Edmonton and Vegas during his free-agent tour. Kuzmenko is expected to agree to a one-year, entry-level deal regardless of the organization, so his trip was about finding the right fit. The 26-year-old forward accounted for 20 goals and 53 points in 45 games for SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL during the 2021-22 season. He also added seven goals and seven assists in 16 playoff contests.

Paging Mr. Adams

- SABRES 89

Buffalo was not even on Kuzmenko's list.

He's looking for an NHL team who has the need for a top 6 winger (on a cheap ELC deal). That's not Buffalo.

So is Husso worth a 4yr 3.5-4m a year deal.
- Buff36

He may be.
I wouldn't however...too unproven to me, one year wonder so far.
2 years at say $2./m...sure, I'd be willing to take a flyer.

Good read!!

Nice article.
I loved the pick at the time, like his progress even better.
He could be exactly what the team needs in 3 years time.

I have said it multiple times I don’t like the idea of St. Louis goalies. Very few end up being good other places. But if he takes 3 years at 3.5 I would consider it.

Yeah, nice to see he has worked on his skating. I hate that agreement that he can't play until he's 20 in Rochester

Those goalies are a product of a strong team in front of them

There are maybe 5-7 goalies in the entire league though that don’t fit that criteria though.

Unless Shesterkin, Vasy, Saros, Hellebuyck, or John Gibson circa 2017 walks through the door tomorrow you’re more or less finding a goalie that hopefully doesn’t kill you behind a strong defensive team.

Heck even with as good as Vasy is, Lightning are going for three cups because not many teams defend the high danger areas as good as they do. Suffocating defence

Disagree. Most of the “elite goalies” have good teams in front of them.

Vaselesky is good but not elite good. Tampa literally has had an all star team in front of him

I would say igor on the rangers carries a bad or overrated team.

People poop on Gibson. But he’s been on a bad team. So is he really that bad? Probly not

It’s all relative

If that’s the case, than Ullmark and Swayman should have put up Tukka Rask numbers in that system no ?

Does the Lightning’s system benefit Vasileksy ? Sure it does.

Vasilesky also had the best performance by a goaltender in decades though in the playoffs last year on route to their second cup before Shesterkin went full Hasek this year

We're not, that was from CapFriendly, but if Lucic wasn't involved I would consider that 2nd for Girgensons. The guy hasn't been fully healthy in 2yrs

lots of interesting topics on spectors blog today

WASHINGTON HOCKEY NOW: Sammi Silber recently cited Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos claiming the Florida Panthers are shopping starting goalie Sergei Bobrovsky hard, so much so they’re willing to retain as much as 50 percent of his $10 million annual cap hit.

New Jersey Devils winger Jesper Bratt is the notable new name, checking in at No. 10. Seravalli noted Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald recently said the 23-year-old winger is a big part of the club’s future. However, sources said Bratt was available at the trade deadline and there’s been no contract extension talks to this point

Puljujarvi’s trade value is low right now and he could be available given the Oilers’ limited cap space. It shouldn’t cost very much to acquire him if the Predators are interested.
