https://russianmachineneverbreaks.com/2022/06/16/reports-sergei-bobrovsky-being-shopped-hard-by-the-florida-panthers-john-gibson-could-be-on-trade-block/

"Bobrovsky, 33, had a 39-7-3 record in 54 appearances for the Presidents’ Trophy winning Panthers, posting a .913 save percentage and three shutouts. Bob’s 23.4 goals saved above expected ranked fourth best in the NHL per Money Puck, behind only Igor Shesterkin (34.1), Andrei Vasilevskiy (28.4), and Frederik Andersen (27.8)."

interesting that not so elite Vasilevskiy was second in the league for saved goals above expected

That was quite the take.

I'm sure Florida would love to get rid of Bobrovsky's contract. How do they convince him to waive his NMC?

Thats much better given the length of his deal. That said, there is no way he waives. Florida was his preferred destination.

Gotta put in a PSA for Amtrak. 1000% better than flying unless you charter a netjet or something. Took Amtrak home from Pittsfield, MA last hike, and I will never fly again when I can possibly go by train. As I type, I'm on a train to Rutland, VT to do another 200 miles on the Appalachian trail in this area. My coach Amtrak seat is 2x as big as a business class flight seat, i can get up and buy a lunch any time i want, free wifi, plenty of charging ports, booze if ya want it, and nobody treating you like cattle. There's no security. You seat yourself. You deal with your bags yourself. And my ticket from Buffalo to Rutland...$86. Less than one tank of gas in my Nissan Frontier.

If any of you remember flying pre 9/11, when you could travel and still enjoy yourself, this is better still. I'll never set foot in an airport unless it's international or I have to get across country in one day. Amtrak is a hidden gem.

I'm from the UK and while the UK trains aren't great and going on strike. Train travel in many parts of Europe is great especially Switzerland, Germany, France (when not on strike) Austria and other places where many times you can easily jump on a train and go cross continent in comfort as long as you don't need to be there in 3 hours

I went snowboarding in Zermatt (Switzerland) and flew into Geneva then took the train and you see so much more and rare is there a sight better than the swiss Alps

Also taken the train from Zurich to Austria and doing that again this coming winter for a ski trip

A little birdie told me to keep a close eye on the US development program / US National team .

Donnie the center whisperer's connections perhaps?

Frank nazar fits the bill :
Frank Nazar is the type of high-energy player with a ‘never quit’ attitude that nearly every NHL team will absolutely fall in love with when watching his games. Nazar is a quality mix of speed and skill that elevates the play of his teammates whenever he’s on the ice.” — Paul Zuk, SMAHT Scouting

“Versatile forward with great speed and offensive skill. Generates offense off the rush and has a quick release. Needs to add strength to his undersized frame but has the talent to produce offense in the NHL.” — Nick Richard, Dobber Prospects

“Nazar doesn’t get flustered. Even if the opposition takes away a slick pass or intercepts an opportunity around the net-front, it’s right back to business the very next shift. You can practically see him going into the lab on the bench, scheming for his next shift. And it rarely if ever fails.”– Russ Cohen, EP Rinkside

“Nazar has potential as a dynamic, offensive winger with a knack for playmaking. He shows excellent patience and seems to always know where his teammates are on the ice. You can see the spring in his step when his team gets the puck. His skating is very strong, thanks to his long, powerful strides. He accelerates quickly, not needing much effort to get to top speed.” — Josh Bell, FC Hockey

Guys are all over the place. Picks 4-18 (within reason) are very jumbled this year. I wouldn’t mind Nazar, very Cozensons-esque player. Dare I say Nazensons? But Cutter also is a US National player and I’d prefer him (at 9 that is)

Nazensons 🙉

Gauthier has the potential to fit in several slots on an NHL lineup due to his positional flexibility, and it’ll make him a valuable player to any team; contending or building. However, the middle-six forward role may be his most suitable spot. He could be that second-line, play-driving, scoring winger due to his shot, explosiveness and on-puck strength or as a third-line center who will contribute offensively, but is responsible defensively. As he continues to develop, his special teams responsibility should continue to grow and he’d be a staple on both power-play and penalty-killing units.

An NHL comparison would be the current longest-tenured New York Ranger, Chris Kreider, who’s in the midst of a career year. The pair are of similar size and Kreider gets involved physically, has explosive speed and a strong shot. He’s a winger, but has been contributing in the faceoff dot when needed and is on pace for a career high in faceoff attempts, while this being the first season he’s really been relied on to kill penalties. If Gauthier can continue in his development in this direction, it’ll make a lot of teams happy.

Makes me think gauthier fits the profile as well.

Maybe both guys end up Sabres, but I felt as though nazar was the guy at 9 without mentioning anyones name in particular.

Not concerned with his lack of points in the Liiga?

Points don’t tell the whole story, but it’s interesting nonetheless.

I guess the Devils already have Hughes and Hischier so taking Cooley may be a tad overkill but I have Slafkovsky 5th personally behind Wright, Nemec, Cooley, Jiricek

Are you watching this game? Team in front of him struggles. He struggles

I’m not saying he sucks. He’s good but not elite

Igor is the only goalie that Carries his team

Take Vasy off Tampa and they don’t have 2 rings.

Defence wins championships, and if your goalie isn’t your best player, you aren’t winning a cup 9 times out of 10.

If Colorado manages to win this series, I’ll never count out Tampa till they are in the handshake line, they would be the exception to the rule winning despite their goaltending.

Yea they would. The last 4-5 years they had one of the best rosters in the NHL.

If you can win with Darcy kemper and Jordan binnington. You need a great team surrounding them

Henrik. Price. Most likely Igor won’t / have never won cups

Fleury won cups …. Why? The pens had a great roster in front of him for years.

Fleury went to the hawks this year and sucked. Went to the wild and played pretty decent

Bob sucked in playoffs … why? His team struggled big time

Vegas made Lehner look like an all star since he got traded to them.

Tukka rask always had a good bruins team in front of him. But then push came to shove and when the bruins got out classed. He want even close to as good and couldn’t carry his team.

Hasek the greatest goalie ever couldn’t win a cup until he was on an all star team with the wings

The oilers made it to the western conference finals with Mike smith who absolutely sucks
