This. He was offered life-changing money at the beginning of his career and he took it. I think it is unfair to say he or the agent screwed up.

I'm hoping tage feels the same way at 7 x 7 this offseason. Sure he can bet on himself and get paid more, but life changing money has to be hard to pass on.

Man we have had some winners!!

I was at the arena for the Sabre "draft party" the year Zagrapan was picked. Marc Staal went right before, and when MZ's name was called I noted several head scratches and "wtf" looks and utterances. Ate one more free hot dog and was on my way home, wondering why I bothered and what exactly I was expecting. That one was on me.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely they even talk extension this summer....or even this season.

That seems to make a lot of sense for both sides. He gets paid a ton and gets to continue on a place where he is comfortable. The grass isn't always greener....

GMKA is extremely patient, and this course would certainly follow that.

This group of players ( tage and olo , dahlin/cozens next year) proved enough last year to extend them to reasonable contracts.

The keep preaching drafting ect. Build from within.

No reason to waste this publicity on extensions until near October. Possible captaincy too

Midnight oil is being burnt on Olofsson, one thing at a time.

Risk Averse
Cost Efficient

Terrified of making a Skinner-size mistake again. Scared of even making an Olofsson-size mistake.

I like your perspective on this one.

I trust kA to pull the trigger when the contracts need to be offered. Blind trust probably

Not just blind, but ignoring the last 2 years. Can't ignore the budget mind-set, just have to hope it changes if they sell some tickets this year.

This team would be much further ahead if they were better with contracts.

That's a really good point there Lunaion and contracts. Not only has the sh!t show on ice the last decade had a affect, but the handling of Contracts has been horrendous. Players see this stuff, agents know this stuff. Wonder why Players "Don't Want to Be Here" or prospects walk away.

They've had a budget mind set for 1 season. 2021-22.
During a plaque

2020-21 they spent big money on hall, also during a plaque.

I'm being hopeful, each gm will get the pegulas pay check to build their team . Including KA

They endured a lot to get to the second chapter of KA's tenure. It's a shame VO's contract is the first he has to deal with. I agree with their sentiment on him, but trading for Bishop + looking cheap with VO is going to be a really bad look.

1 year deals are not spending big.

His first moves were 1 year deals on Ullmark, Sam, and Montour. Cheap and stupid, a lethal combination.

I definitely give him a pass for year 1 during the 2020 offseason.
I also fully recognize he made mistakes that year and recognize having been appointed as GM on June 16th, 2020. Further, I recognize Kevyn's first task was to fire 90% of his scouting staff on June 16, 2020, operating with bare bones staff.
He was not able to hire an Asst/Assoc GM until 2021,

Talk about the deck being stacked against you.
There were gaffs for sure, assisted by Kim Pegula and Ralph Krueger leading the way.

I would think it would be very hard not to put an "*" on that offseason, and spread a majority of that blame around.

Why?

I will never understand this. His horrific start cant be ignored.

I'm hoping he's finally got it straightened out, but that was some of the worst i've seen.

it's ok to blame anyone for any length of time of failure. the only thing that matters is how they move forward and how they learn from the past.

Maybe someone will ask him about it at his press conference on FA day after he announces the Thomas Greiss signing

And think this is a important off-season for Adams and Co. to show the fan base they are moving forward and not stuck in the Status Quo. Show us something!!

Tough situation to walk into for sure, for kynvyn.

Just like the buffalo Bill's front office structure, the Sabres make "group" decisions. Beane/mcd decide on players together.

Hard to blame just the new guy and not ralph and upper management.

My understanding: donnie has quite a bit of influence on the current roster. ☝️
