Yes im trying to find out who said spend all teh moeny.

Somehow bring in a Top 6 F or Top 4 D and a Goalie turned into

I WANT THE TO SPEND ALL THE CELERY

- ImThatGuy

A top 4 D and top 6 F is at least $10 million, between the two of them. But that wasn't really my point. I don't think they're going to spend until they see where Krebs, Mitts and Cozens (and maybe even Thompson) all slot in. That'll be another season. They want these kids playing in all types of situations and I don't think they're bringing in, say, a Niederreiter-type that will take away ice time.

I think they have their top 4 D set (for next year, anyway). Imo, they liked the way those two pairs played together.

All this being said, this is just my opinion, and Adams can certainly prove me wrong.

When you can't put enough intelligent words together in the same paragraph, definitely go bold type print.

Don’t like the pick at 9…or 16…or 28…but 41 was alright, I guess.

Really, I read these articles open minded.

Trying to learn who each writer has a prospect ranked.

10 people you ask, already have their minds made up or are they looking for more details.

Some of us dont believe everything were told ☝️

- Boss34

You do realize the article I posted is 2 people, one a draft expert and one an anonymous NHL source, attempting to predict what will happen, not what they think should happen, and their prediction for the Sabres with the 9th overall pick is to draft an LHD.

That prediction seems farfetched.

Crazy that you've read so much draft paperwork, met the players, traveled across the world watching these prospects and you disagree with a draft article.

The guy that wrote that article knows nothing

- Boss34

Let's try it this way...

After reading the various Prospect Rankings and Profiles, have you formed an opinion on who you like at the various draft slots for the Sabres yet?

Mine is this way, and likely 100% wrong from what Adams and team will do...
At #9:
- Prefer a Center with a solid motor, good skater, goes to the tough areas. Prospects that fit that bill from what I read and should slot in there are Savoie and Nazar, although if available Cuter Gauthier would be my selection (I'd be stunned if he was there). Kasper may be avail, but would rather target him at 16
- RhD would be my 2nd preference, guys with size and preference for Defensive acumen. Sadly Jiricek and Nemec should be long gone if the vast majority of Mocks are correct. I don't see a viable candidate worthy of 9.
- Winger is my 3rd preference. Impactful RW are generally a bit harder to find than LW, so all else being even I'd lean that way. Speed, Skating, Shot and willingness to go inside are my preferences. There's several here in Kemmel, Yurov ( although likely slides due to Russian factor this year), Lekkerimaki, even Miro ( he also slides a bit due to Russian factor, maybe not though).

16, Pretty similar to 9, but some different names :
[Edit: if the selected a C at 9, then move off that position]
-C = Nazar (maybe there), Kasper
-W = Miro, Yurov, McGoarty
-D = Bichsel a LhD, but love the size & physicality, (not as familiar with other names like Minty, who's likely gone anyway)

28, a RhD would be my focus, unless value is stronger elsewhere
-D = Chesley, Salomonsson

What's cool to me is the lack of consensus after the top 3 in this draft.

Would love to hear others thoughts on their preferences

I like your approach here. It sounds like Lambert might be falling. I wouldn’t like him at 16, but 28 would certainly be worth the gamble.
Savoie seems to have a wide-ish range, I’d love for him to drop to 9. But barring that, I could dig Nazar there.
It’ll be interesting picking after the Wings. They are not afraid to take their guy, no matter what anyone else says.

So you want Korchinski at 9?

Cause that's a terrible pick and the guy that wrote the article put him there.

The guys who have fallen cause of issues.. whether it be motor or skating or whatever. Will all be gone by 20ish.

Geeke will probably fall cause he cant skate but someone will take a flier on him in the teens since hes 6'4 220. Lambert is to skilled to drop all the way to 28. But I also would not take him at 16. Give me a guy who will compete every shift.

That's very interesting, I like the positional variances....

I really hope they skip picking defenseman early, as I've recently posted my theory on the current "big 3" playing 75-80 of the 120 minutes per game.

Add in the vet d and a relatively young joker .... not enough big minutes to go around IMO.

if they were projecting dahiln to walk in 2 years or trade him, sure absolutely use a prime pick to replace him.

I had a nice conversation Saturday about donnie having a lot more say in upcoming drafting and player decisions.

"Can't make the meal unless you shop for the ingredients " paraphrased

I'd keep an eye on gauthier and nazar. 😉

Good Post!!
That's the best part of this draft, all the rankings are all over the place. Could be the funnest draft to watch in awhile, bunch of teams with no 1sts and a bunch with Multiple.

per spector

THE BUFFALO NEWS: Lance Lysowski recently reported the Sabres don’t expect some of the higher-tiered UFA goalies will be available to them. Going the cheaper route might be their best option again this summer.

Lysowski also speculated that Victor Olofsson could be a trade candidate. He had 20 goals and 49 points this season but is a restricted free agent with arbitration rights who needs to produce more. He completed a two-year deal worth an annual average value of $3.050 million.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Sabres have $35 million in cap space and must spend to reach the $61 million cap minimum. Fleury, Kuemper and Campbell could be out of reach but Husso could be a possibility. Holtby is past his prime but could be a good mentor in a backup role to Luukkonen. Olofsson could also be a decent bargaining chip if the Sabres want to pursue a goalie through the trade market.

I would consider using the second round pick to get tyler brennan, best NA goalie in draft and then use the third rd pick to get topias leinonen, best euro goalie in draft

both goalies have size

After (or before, for that matter) pick 9, I’d love for a big run on the LHD to happen. Having someone like Lekkerimaki, Kasper, McGroarty, or Miro being available would be nice.

I've heard there isn't a goalie to take in the first 2 rounds. The value is just not there apparently

Move them down a round and I’d be on board. Need to restock the position, then begin the long wait for their maturity.

From various Mocks, it would seem that 3 of those would be there at 9
Wright, Slafv, Cooley, Nemec, Jiricek, Gauthier, Kemmel, Savoie seem to be in the top 7 in some form or fashion.
Anyone's guess, generally speaking those seem to be the top guys...Nazar, Lekkerimaki, Kasper, Korchinski, Yurov, Minty usually come next in some way.

Who knows though, I'm sure we'll see somebody surprise us.

In order, with the assumption Cutter is gone before

9. Savoie, Lekker, Kemell

16. Miro, Rutger, Mesar

28. Howard, RHD

2 weeks to the draft making me giddy

Ah, My wording was a little confusing. I’m hoping one of those guys is there at 16.
