Thanks for your input and effort, greatly appreciated. I'll knock the easy one off first. I'm certain the Hawks would rather take Weissbach, he's much more NHL ready. Sardarian is several years out but he's totally committed to playing at UNH next season after playing in the USHL this year. I'd certainly shake on Weissbach and a 2 for Murphy, but that's just me.
Debrincat, I liken him to maybe a blend of Jeff Skinner and Sam Reinhart. Like you mentioned, Hagel carried a heavy price tag because of his utility ability and very low cost/age. Those late 1sts are alright and those prospects should be fighting for bottom 6 minutes.
Skinner received a 2nd, 3rd, 6th and a garbage prospect. Reinhart received a perceived late 1st and a former 7th round pick with higher than anticipated development. Skinner was facing a year from UFA, same with Reinhart. Now, we know DeBrincat is a stronger player than those two. His contract demands and UFA status will work against his worth in a trade.
I would counter with VGK 2022 1st, Buffalo 2022 2nd, Rosen and Laaksonen. I could be convinced of using Buffalo 2022 1st instead. - TheSabresTaco
That's a good counter, but not sure if it's enough.
I don't remember The Skinner situation when he was traded to Buffalo. Was he more or less a cap dump or wore out his welcome in Carolina? Maybe that had to do with the meager return. Anyway Cat's a RFA after next season, not a UFA. Maybe a typo. Don't know if it's possible for a team to talk to his camp prior to a trade to get an idea of his next contract ask, or if that will make any difference in the return.

Appreciate you stopping bye and the excellent post.
As a Sabres fan your asking for :
9th OA
2023 1ST protected
Our 14oa (rosen) for last season
Peterka (2nd) ,but valued at a 1st IMO
swap a 2nd for a 4th.
So (4) 1st rounders and a 2nd (kinda)
We just got tuch, krebs, 16oa and a 2nd for eichel. (Injured)
The cat IMO , isnt a eichels value.
Maybe 3 out of the 5 pieces requested, saving peterka and rosen.
My counter:
9OA, 1st next year and a straight 2nd rounder. - Boss34
Thanks for the input. Would be nice to get a prospect or two in return.
It's the old a bird in the hand (proven 40 goal scorer) is worth more than two (or three or four) in the bush situation. LOL. We'll see what happens.

third liner got 14 more points then him in 21-22 season
jokes aside, his face off percentage is brutal and he has done this over a small sample size
he could be the next tim connolly or he could be a centerpiece for this franchise
tough call - homiedclown

Not a typo, my mistake. So since he has team control, I think that certainly ups his value. However, wingers like Reinhart and Buchnevich received meager returns relative to their actual value and similar age. I wonder what the market looks like this year for wingers? I would be willing to pay more than what Reinhart received and definitely what Buchnevich got, but that offer I provided seems fair based on last year's market.
Of course we have no idea what guys like Pastrnak (who I think I was thinking of with the UFA status) and DeBrincat are worth this year. If last year's market holds, I would say my offer was more than fair. 9, 41, Rosen and Laaksonen is killer. That's two premium prospects and two B prospects. Considering his demands will be in the 9 range, I don't think I could offer much more here other than another B/C prospect and/or a late pick.

Ok thank you
As much as I have been an olo fan since Rochester, he has serious size and soft play liabilities.
He could fit into a team like Florida, as did Sam.
We are missing all that toughness and once the playoffs start playing , he's gonna be an easy target.
Especially if he gets scoring early.. - Boss34
The author of that article advocated for keeping Olofsson and extending him, but everything he is hearing from the team and other sources is saying they don't want to keep him long term.
There's even talk they are concerned about his ARB award, which is lunacy. |

I’m not Olofsson’s biggest supporter but I thought he got legitimately better last year
We were 21st in scoring. Trading him probably makes our goal scoring worse.
I don’t get what the plan is |

As a Sabres fan, it's easier trading picks vs. Trading a known commodity (player picked and in our system already)
Peterka is going to be a fan favorite, with his bowling ball style of playing hockey.
I'd agree though, 3 or 4 premium pieces for a talent like the cat.
How much of his play is propped up by pk88?
Everyone needs a play making center, but is the cat a sole benefactor of kane's play.
Everyone here got a huge boost playing with eichel.

I'd like to naively think the Sabres would want to extend him now, but Tage would also need to want that.
If Tage truly believes in himself and his abilities, he may want to ride out his current contract to really cash in big time. |

He only got another year. How much more could he really make? Say hes a ppg player next year I Think 8x8 would be solid. He'll be 26 come the end of his contract next year.
IF these guys want to win too like a Tampa or a Colorado there will have to be some pay cuts to fit all of them in in 3-4 years |

That's very true, but he's been making 1.4 million, which isnt minimum wage by any means.
After agents, taxes ect. .....
49 big ones guaranteed would be tough to pass up IMO.
Your right though, betting on himself for another year could make him another 10-15 million over the full deal. |

Clearly not his biggest fan either, and I think it's appropriate to consider his long term fit here, but I said all along that I'd be fine as long as it wasn't a 1 year deal. That would be indecisive, cheap, incompetence.....again.
