I don't care if Rosen will be in the AHL, NHL or SHL next year he is by far a better asset than Risto is. Leave out the goalies, I'd rather have (in no particular order) Johnston, L'Heureux, Svechkov, Othmann, Lucius, Bolduc, Samoskevich, Lambos over Ristolainen. This is without mentioning they also don't have a 2023 2nd rounder, another asset probably more valuable than Ristolainen at this point. But sure, he's no longer $5.4 million anchor only a $5.1 million anchor. - TobyFlenderson
Lets check back in a few years and see if any of the names you mention here are actually playing in the NHL and significantly contributing. Fletcher took a gamble on a player he coveted, last year didn't work out for Risto and the entire team. I would like to see how Risto does on a well coached and healthy team before I make any final judgements. |

There are centers the Flyers should consider before Gauthier (who might end up more as a winger anyway).
But he is the kind of toolsy guy that the Flyers love to take with their high picks. - Tomahawk
I can see Fletcher taking him, he's from the US national development team program, headed to play in NCAA, can score and skate, can be physical....I just hope that's not their actual selection though, as you said, there's better players available ahead of him.
He averages something like 7 or 8 shots a game, misses a lot, and often has very poor shot selection. Busting down the wing and staying to the outside, then throwing pucks at the net from just above the goal line will get old really fast. Catches some junior goalies with it, but that's not gonna' be as effective as a pro, considering it's something he tries regularly. |

After that season we just had, how in the world do you resign the guy? I also remember people on here guaranteeing he would get a raise, that was foolish. I pointed out his role here would not have the point production in Buffalo and that his big contract was an overpay to begin with. |

Moving up in the draft seems to be a good strategy for mid to late 1st round picks where you can find someone with upside that someone else doesn’t see.
The Flyers took Farabee at #14 and O’Brien at #19 in the 2018 draft while the Wild took Filip Johansson(a bust) at #24 who just signed with the Nucks. Meanwhile, the Rags moved up 4 spots in that draft to take D’Andre Miller at #22. Miller played HS hockey in Minny but Paul Fenton couldn’t see that talent and try to get him? Stuff like this is why the Flyers can’t make the POs and the Wild can’t win a PO round.

That Jay O’Brien was another epic blunder , few guys in the 5 picks after him that are going to be NHLers |

Weekes reporting Cassidy hired by Vegas - Djapana
Vegas has turned into a bit of a mess. Handled things very poorly, disorganized, firings left and right. |

Cassidy to Vegas, well, at least that organization knows how to act when a great coach becomes available! What the heck Fletcher is doing is beyond me at this point! |

Beats me ... Cassidy would have been a hire in the right direction, yet the Flyers today are still without a head coach. Think about it, the Flyers have had two great coaches that no one thought would be available to them this off season fall into their laps, and yet here we are and no coach is hired. Meanwhile a dysfunctional mess that is Vegas jumps on Cassidy and he is hired within a week of being fired by Boston! |

The JOB pick was another example of Hextall thinking he was smarter than everyone else and jumping on a kid that had potential. I like JOB, when he is actually healthy enough to be on the ice, but you had a chance to walk away in 2018 with Farabee and Miller, and instead you got Farabee and a guy that can't stay on the ice in college. And yet there are still some on this forum that continue to defend Hextall as an excellent GM and drafter, its baffling to me. |

Oh, so I must have missed the memo stating you are now the spokesperson for everyone on this forum. Just stick to your own business. |

Correct though not sure what that has to do with the flyers coaching vacancy
Has nothing to do with other teams. Fletcher cant force a coach to sign here.

This is pretty much the scouting report and exactly how I feel about him, too.
Forget top-5 in the draft, I'm not even sure he's the 5th-best available player from USNTDP this class. |
