Not even sure I'd do Jarry for Gibson straight up right now.

Imagine a world where Geno and Letang are signed, and Bergeron and Giroux take tiny salaries to join the Pens so they can load up for one more major run. It wouldn’t happen in any form of reality, but what a story it would be.

Likely what happens to the Pens post Sid/Geno just like it did with Detroit Post Z/Dats.

Not really an upgrade in net, Gibson hasn't been that good for the last few years. Losing a RD in the process is a terrible decision.

I would say that it is a good upgrade in net. Gibson has been on a horrible team, and if you get past the statistical consequences of that, has played well and doesn't get hurt often. He is locked up for a number of years through his prime, and Jarry will get a raise to at least $5m/yr next year...maybe more depending on how next season goes. I just see Gibson as somebody who instills more confidence than Jarry...

Marino at $4.5 is way too high. Sure, he is RHD, but that's overpaying imo for what he brings. Likewise on Demoulin, but he's UFA -- either one in the deal, or Petterson, and I would be OK with that.

It’s a lateral move at best. Marino at 4.5m is easily fair market value.

I'm not sure how much he's going to get in the open market, but Nick Paul should be a player the Pens go after if the cost is reasonable. I'm sure lots of teams will be in on him, so my guess is he will get overpaid.
