That tweet by Dubinsky about ‘ pray for the Flyer players’ is being characterized as a grudge tweet against Tortorella. I tend to think it’s humor. Dubinsky is Torts’ prototypical player playing for him in NY and CLB and thriving both times. |

He referred to his time with Torts as a “sh-t show”, and openly said how he didn’t like how Torts used him.
I’m guessing it wasn’t a ribbing. |

Bill,
What if any weight do you place on the value of former teammates who had significant on-ice chemistry together at lower levels?
Hayes/Gaudreau (UFA) @ Boston College
Couturier/Palat (UFA) @ Drummondville
Frost/Boris Katchouk (trade) @ Soo |

The best two seasons of his NHL career were under Tortorella in NY. He led the Rangers in scoring one year. As for their later years together in Columbus, Dubinsky's play was in decline. |

I think there is potential value-- see Clarke and Leach together in Flin Flon and then Philly for the ultimate example-- but it isn't automatic.
With Frost, his late season line with Cates and Tippett had a similar chemistry dynamic to what he had with the Soo in his D+1 season with Katchouk and Raddysh. A healthy Farabee could also thrive on LW of that line; Farabee was never truly healthy in the latter part of the season.

Dubinsky should thank Torts for the career he had. |

Dubinsky always came across as a turd anyway. He just has that hate the face I want to throat punch you look. Pretty low class to come out with that tweet now, but it shouldn't surprise anyone. Go Torts! Would have been interesting to see how the country clubbers(Voracek and Giroux ) would have responded to Torts. Go Torts! No more sissy hockey thank God! Let's just say that I'll take Atkinson's word over Dubinsky's. Thanks! |

I'm calling it now, real easy. The first ones in Torts doghouse:
Forward: TK
Defense: Provorov |
|

The approach to selecting a new head coach appeared to be from many accounts a lot better this time around—getting Torts. A vetting company, Flahr and Briere involved in the interviewing, multiple candidates, rounds of interviews, time to evaluate candidates…lots of things that certainly didn’t show with the AV hire. I think Torts is a very good coach. One telling feature is that I can’t stand him when I am rooting for the opposing team. That’s a good thing, a compliment. It means I believe he is contributing to the team’s success with his lines and adjustments. In general, I like and don’t mind fiery people. I may *cough* know some. They care. If they listen, they learn from their mistakes, and get better with age.
Good luck to Fletcher and company with the rest of the changes! I hear a lot of folks say they don’t like Torts because they think defense will be boring. I don’t think it has to be. The forecheck is very aggressive. What interests me the most is the assistant coaches. I think that the defense coach needs to be a modern defenseman type. No idea on the PP, but whoever, better be amazing.

Who said tk makes it through training camp. He might be the trade bait. I love his potential but he’s not likely a torts player |

He employs a 2-1-2 with an aggressive forecheck, but when you don't have the puck you better get your ass back and play defense. That's been one of the main problems of this team for years IMO...they don't back check. |

I believe TK could possibly be the first trade this off seasn

I like TK and what he could be, but if it makes the team better I'm all for trading ANYONE. Just not a fan of trading for the sake of trading and hoping it sparks something for no logical reason.

Not sure who the Flyers could get for TK alone, but LA will not be adding either of Clarke or Turcotte for him.
I could see maybe Grans, who could be a great pickup, and/or Vilardi, but I don't see him thriving in Philly.

I would be cautious about trading player in order to appease a coach. We had a few questionable trades to pacify AV and ended up with misfit roster with limited prospect cupboard.
