Rest In Peace Jay Greenberg. Outstanding writer and I miss him.

Torts and the Flyers are a pretty good match. A$$hole coach and an A$$hole team. And I meant that in the best possible way. Should be fun. Wish my team would jettison Ruff and hire a real coach...

I don't have any doubts that Tortorella will coach them back to bubble land. Then the Flyers can continue to blow smoke. I just wish the fans would stop being so gullible.

You know what? Torts would have been perfect when we actually had characters in the dressing room such as Chris Pronger, Jeremy Roenick and Scott Hartnell. Now Torts will be our only character guy and JvR will continue using the word “obviously” six times in two sentences. So we have this going for us.

Hockey players, and really athletes in general, aren’t usually known for their oratory prowess. Obviously. They get asked lots of questions obviously, but I’m not sure they put a lot of attention into giving back worthwhile feedback. Obviously.

Anderson is on 5.5 mill deal for a long time. He's a good player however Id stay away.

Anderson and Debrincat would be great players to have but teams are not just going to give these guys away. We dont have an excess of picks to move aside from maybe the 2024 1st from Florida and we dont have the prospect pool to be moving guys either. Debrincat is 24 so I wouldnt be too upset if we did move pieces for him but it does worsen out future situation. Anderson on the other hand is 28 years old. Not someone at this point in time I would want to move future assets for.

Somebody is gonna toss stupid money at Cat.

I know Philly, or at least their fans, always wanted him since that draft, but I really don’t see them matching the number that another team will throw out there if the BHawks don’t believe they can lock him down. He’s probably the kind of guy Giroux deserved to have on his line for all these years, but that’s hindsight.

JVR will be gone or his ass will be plastered in the press box. Torts sees his lazy ass on the ice and he'll basically either quit or demand that JVR be jettisoned anywhere but here. TK is probably a goner too. He can make his little girly faces at opposition players somewhere else.

I find it funny how many people worship Bob on here. Word out of Florida is that the Cats are desperately trying to move him at any cost.

We can only hope they find a way to get JVR out of here. Yes, the Schenn trade didn't work out but I've never been a fan of JVR since the first time he was here. Most of his goals this past season came after the Flyers were out of contention. Lazy stiff.
As for Bob, I have nothing against him and didn't like how we gave up on him so quickly, but it's not like he went on and became a postseason stud.

He is an RFA, so a team would have to trade for him. An off sheet is possible but not likely.

That was always my point about Bob. People ripped the Flyers for giving up on him, but I think in reality he demanded a trade when they signed Bryz. He always seemed to do well in the regular season and then came up small in the playoffs. It's not that he played bad in this year's playoffs, but he certainly isn't elite and he is being paid elite money.

A new attitude from the coach is fine and dandy, but it ain't gonna grant hockey sense to Ristolainen, teach Hayes to effectively use his linemates, find the offensive talent that this team so badly lacks or the top pair Dman it really needs.

All Tortorella's "standard" will do is raise a bottom five team to a team that finishes in the 8-10 range in the East. Sadly, that will only harm the team in the long run as management is just unable to grasp the fact that this team needs a complete rebuild from the ground up. Not just on the ice, but in the front office, developmental staff and medical/training staffs as well.

The way this team is currently being operated, no coach will be able to return it to contention.

Offer sheets rarely are, but I don’t think a team would mind giving up a 1, 2, and a 3. I believe that means a max offer in the $8.4/year range. Totally reasonable given his age and goal scoring ability.
I suppose the question is would a team be willing to give up two 1s, a 2, and a 3. Now we’re getting into that stupid money range. I guess that compensation is likely to be a little rich.
