Great to see you on the boards as always, Tyler!

My preference for next head coach is Luke Richardson. Players relate to him. They respect him immensely where they would go through brick walls.

Richardson also demands a lot without the abrasiveness and abrupt shelf life of a Gerard Gallant or John Tortorella where the message and influence get stale.

Then again, Richardson has only been an assistant so who knows what his staying power is at the head coach level. I'd be willing to wait and see.

- Theo Fox

Nice to see some more Richardson love. I'd be real happy with him.

Not sure if you covered this, Theo, but the names like Richardson and Shaw made a ton of sense to me when they came out in the rumour mill.

I tweeted this a week back:

Richardson and Shaw are both ex-teammates of #blackhawks Associate GM, Norm Maciver.

He’s a great asset for Kyle Davidson as his hockey roots go deep and can offer first-hand thoughts on guys like this, plus other coaches around the league the Hawks may be looking at.

No complaints over here! How are you?

Is that confirmed Richardson is back for round 2 already? I didn't see that.

When I heard his name surface, I thought he could be a great option.

He has experience working with younger players, can relate to players as a former player of 1,400+ games, and is a guy that could put some fear into guys when they aren't falling in line with the game plan.

- Tyler Cameron

Doing good. Thanks. I read recently somewhere about Richardson's 2nd interview. I don't remember where, and that doesn't make it true.

Great write up l, Theo!

I’m ready for the whirlwind that is coming for the Hawks this summer. I am actually excited that Davidson - not Bowman - is the one making these moves.

The Hawks have needed this rebuild for a while as we know and we’ll get the true taste of how GM KD operates really soon.

I think we hear about a head coach shortly.

Who is everyone’s favourite for the Blackhawks next coach?

- Tyler Cameron

Hey TC! Good to hear from you again. I'm actually really excited about the management group as a whole. KD, MacIver, Greenberg improving the communication, Doneghey leading the draft. From the outside (and reading some of the stories upon their departure) it seems as though the old group was kind of disjointed and not on the same page. This new group seems to all be working together. Obiously the proof will be in the standings (in a few years anyway).

My expectation is that King gets it for no reason other that KD wants to give everyone a heart attack.

Lightning assistant coach Jeff Halpern has been rumored to be someone to watch. Elliotte Friedman even said Halpern may be a head coach candidate for some teams.
- Theo Fox

Maybe Halprern to Detroit considering Yzerman's ties to the Lightning.

Luke Richardson.

I’m with you, I’m ready for a crazy offseason. Anyone and everyone is on the table, which is the way it should be. I’d like to see Kane be a Hawk for life, but if he wants to go and the return is great then KD should deal him.

I think one of Murphy and McCabe will be gone too, if not both.

- DarthKane

Yes Richardson for me also read a great article on him and what he has all been through ,seems like a stand up guy well respected through out the league .And also has ties to the Hawks .
Ya I would hate to see Kaner go ,but if he is ok with it {he would have to be ) then him going to the Rangers for a decent price would be all right in my books .

Yes, I saw this tweet you posted recently. Totally agree that coaching candidates with Richardson and Shaw's backgrounds and pedigree may be what are guiding the hiring profile.

The Hawks were once in on Russian free agent Andrei Kuzmenko. He is signing with the Canucks.

Filip Roos may be Chicago's one and only free agent signing from abroad. Arvid Soderblom was their one a year ago.

so anyone think this story of letting Strome walk for free has any legs? be pretty poor asset managment if KD lets him walk.

Not that I'm advocating for this but if Brunette becomes available are the Hawks interested? ...... Wondered about this while FLA was still playing and today Marek mentioned the possibility.

Agree here. Guess it's ok to walk away from Strome but to get zero for a 3rd overall, big body who plays center, had a fine 2nd half of the season and is not cost prohibitive IMO certainly is poor asset management.

Could be wrong and there is no market for him but plenty of clubs could use a guy who's shown he can fill a 2C spot reasonably well, especially since he seems to have figured it out at the dot.

KD said the Hawks aren’t in the market for big name European FAs. Plus, he doesn’t want to trade them quickly (a la Panarin) and develop a poor reputation.

Good for the Canucks though.

In isolation, yes it’s poor asset management. But we should reserve judgment until the off season is over to see how Strome fits in or doesn’t fit in to the plans.

Did someone "report" this, or was it just them speculating? Just because it is in an article, doesn't mean that there is any backing behind it.

This mentions Richardson is "in line for" a second interview. So anticipated but maybe not scheduled yet. Wonder if they are doing all or most of the first interviews before any second interviews.

Hearing one additional name has surfaced in #FlaPanthers coaching search: Jukka Jalonen.

Jalonen has coached 30+ years in Finland. #Suomi national team coach since 2008. Olympic gold + 3x World Champs.

Tuomo Ruutu(🇫🇮) was the only FLA assistant coach retained last week. #nhlfi

Report what, that the Hawks tried to trade Strome all season and had NO takers? Yea, it's been "reported" multiple times. ..... They also have KD on film and tape as saying he wants speed, especially down the middle.

I meant about simply walking away from the contract. It is easier to trade players in the offseason, and Strome showed better to end the year.

Even if he doesn't want him, KD can qualify Strome with the minimum raise on a 1 year deal. And when his agent starts asking for multiple years @ $5M, dump him in a trade for a draft pick asap.

I'm sure you are watching the playoffs Mr. R - in high gear Strome moves at the speed of Tampa's 4th line. It isn't good enough and garden snails like him never get to touch the puck playing against teams like Colorado, Florida, Edmonton, NYR and name a few more. And KD knows it.

Let Kane reunite with the Breadman. We'll take Lafreniere and a 2nd. Both teams are happy. Kane is happy.
We have the pieces to get some serious building blocks for the future.

- Hawkeynation

LIKE the Rangers would trade Lafreniere and more for Kane, with no Cap space already!

Not me...algthough he did adjust to the rug being pulled out on Q and did an admirable job, he didn't adjust in the playoffs. letting Huberdeau and company not play a power play that wasn't free balling...
