Per Roumeliotis:
I'm told the Ryan Huska to Chicago report is inaccurate. No decision has been made yet on a permanent head coach. #Blackhawks |

Even though the Ryan Huska rumor is seemingly not true, I wouldn't discount the notion that he's a viable candidate.
He may be an unknown but he has coaching experience and is closer to 50 than he is to 40 like Jeremy Colliton was.
Huska was head coach for the Flames AHL afffiliate for 4 seasons and has been a Flames assistant coach for the last 4.
Before that he was an assistant then a head coach for the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL for 12 years.
Don't know much about his style and what players think of him but he seems to be fitting the demographics and resume of the hiring profile. |

NHL Draft: 76th overall, 1993; Chicago Blackhawks. Played 1 game with the team in 1997-98 season. So there's that.

And file this factoid in the "probably doesn't mean anything" pile: in Huska's first season as an assistant coach for Kelowna, that was Duncan Keith's one and only season there before starting his pro career the year after with the Hawks AHL affiliate in Norfolk. |

It just took watching 2 Calgary post game presser to know Ryan Huska is perfect at piling it high and dry in his accurate descriptions of hid new Blackhawk rebuilding team:

Thank you for posting that link, Wiz.
To be honest -- and granted it was only one interview -- I enjoyed listening to Huska and getting a glimpse into how he ticks. He's very articulate, approachable, and well versed.
I particularly like how he stresses communication in a way that seems more engaging and humanizing than alienating which may have been a downfall for Colliton who was proclaimed as a great communicator.
Huska also constantly emphasized commitment to a system and accountability to help the team no matter whether you're a star player or a role player.
Not saying Huska has cornered the market on these values and lessons but he at least knows what he's talking about and saying them in a manner that doesn't just come off as catch phrases. |

And the way Huska describes the difference between defending and checking is excellent. Each player is responsible for how they perform without the puck and executes that in their own way depending on their strengths and attributes. |
