I've been thinking of a Debrincat return. For Hagel KD got quantity over quality. Maybe he takes quality over quantity for Cat and gets fewer but better pieces. The 2OA plus Holtz from NJ? Or the 2OA and 2 lesser prospects? Or an early 1st round pick. 6 or 9 from Ottawa or Buffalo plus a combination of at least 2 more high picks/prospects? The lower the 1st round pick, the more/better assets attached.

As for Kane, maybe he waives after Cat traded. Could be later this summer after the draft. Would Kane do Hawks a favor and agree to an extension after July 12 and trade to maximize the return for the Hawks. If a team wants cost certainty and they have Kane for say 4 years, KD could get a Debrincat type return - 2023 1st and 2 or 3 more pieces.

I would not hesitate to take 2023 draft picks, as opposed to 2022 draft picks.

National Junior evaluation camp. Uh, is Jack Hughes, THE Jack Hughes, or is there another?

Matty Beniers (SEA) and Jake Sanderson (OTT), as expected, not going to camp and not expected to be available for summer WJC. More surprisingly, no Drew Commesso (CHI) who was the No. 1 goalie before the tournament was cancelled in December. USA shallow in net without him.

Imo it's a two horse race between New Jersey and LA kings . I know LA hawks came up with good trade proposal from the kings. Would like to hear more trade proposals for Debrincat and some other teams that have not been mentioned. Now there will be 31 teams inquiring about dcat but what teams actually have the draft capital and prospects and cap space to acquire dcat and match the Hugh price that is needed to trade for DeBrincat from the Blackhawks? Thoughts and opinions are welcomed.

Depending what we're willing to take back anyone can have cap space.

Just because they're having a difficult time evaluating this draft, statistically doesn't mean it will be worse than '23.

Realistically what teams have both the cap space to sign him and picks and prospects to meet the asking price in the possible trade?

Whoever the next coach is won’t be here when the Hawks are relevant again. Buckle up for a crazy offseason, but also fully aware that this rebuild is going to be painful, but long overdue.

Depending on what you take back, plenty.

Buff
NYI
NJD
AZ
CBJ
OTT
SEA
ANA

I'm sure a couple more. I would highly doubt that the Hawks would be able to trade ADB without taking salary back.

Agree I msure there at least 4 or 5 other teams and yes they would have to take salary back or won't get as much in return.

Agreed, the value of turning a larger contract into a different large contract but for a young goal scorer that can play at both ends will be appealing to many, many teams in either building their talent or extending their window to compete.

We’ll see if DK’s decision impacts how much the Hawks can take back in any trade if that’s the route they take to expedite. I would think he keeps playing, for the love of the game and competing like Jagr.

LA could put together a decent offer too. My top 5 would be:

NJ
Ottawa
LA
Arizona
Buffalo

It is this draft years Jack D. Hughes, the son of the Habs GM.

You almost got me with this one, until I realized Commeso turns 20 in July....he is ineligible for the World Juniors Under-20

The only thing I am sure of is no team is going to open the pantry to rookie GM Davidson for DeBrincat unless they feel there are really other contenders bidding up the ante.

So I'm not sure if I am the 'hawks GM, how I am able to keep two teams motivated to extend/modify/negotiate, with them, while the both deals start involving a cornucopia of various picks and personal because both clubs will have entirely different starting pieces in terms of draft slots
I am fairly certain many teams talked with JD about Hagel, but the door shut with two number ones...and he squeezed for more.

What do I say to say NJ's Fitzgerald, when he asks me, "Well does 2022 second overall and this get us close enough to get you to hang up the phone on Rob Blake?"

We have all heard the Eric Lindros draft trade having two suitors both thinking they had a deal until only Philly did...

I have no idea what GM Wiz says to keep one of them from closing down shop because they felt close and suddenly they feel I am being disingenuous in my conversations or true intent...

I don't believe another team wants Strome or Beadin at all. It us convenient to dump them off, ut in a package trade neither team wants to take back players of no interest unless forced to accept.. other GM s can see Strome exa ctly for what he is and there has to be injuries to even let the slow skater Strome into lineup.

New blog! Thoughts on the vast perspectives on what a rebuild is when thinking about the Blackhawks present and future and whether the GM and players are on the same page.
