I've never seen any Jurassic Park movies. Same with Lord of the Rings.
Side note - I've always thought it weird that Avatar is among the most watched movies of all time (I didn't see that one either) but nobody ever talks about it. - Slump Buster
Avatar is very good. Very surprised you didn't see any JP movies, that's crazy to me. Back when we were kids it was all the rage.

Supposedly that was the actual story arc but George Lucas thought it would make the kids sad.
If you're familiar with Isaac Asimov and The Foundation books, that's essentially the plot of the the second book which I'm sure Lucas based (ripped) the idea off. I don't want to say too much because the next season of that show will probably go into it, but there's a character called The Mule and it's basically Jar Jar - Hank Balling

I think that might be part of the reason I didn't see it - my kids are 11 and under. Also, I rarely enjoy sci-fi movies. Also, I tend to watch the artsier movies and not the Hollywood movies (shameless plug for my movie review site, IHATEBadMovies.com). |

Which is probably why casual movie viewers thought they were at least good. Far better movies than the prequels, if you aren't worried about the context of the franchise. - Slump Buster
I don't see it. But that's your opinion.
Prequels were far better to me than others give them credit for.
The writing in all the movies were not the best if thats what you don't like about em'

I have read that George intended there to be a 7, 8 ,9 (which contradicts with his interviews saying Anakin is the real chosen one) where Leia was the actual "chosen one" And Darth Maul becomes the Sith Lord and other things but Disney did not want to go this route. (Palp was intended to die at the end of 6 by Vader) |

You're probably right. I've got a 3d projector and a giant screen.... still never had the impetus to put it on. - Slump Buster
Are you the TV quality snob?
If I'm remembering correctly, I'm shocked you haven't watched Avatar yet on your home setup.
It stands alone in terms of visual quality. |

I am absolutely a tv quality snob. That could be why I've never watched it - 3d movies are generally disappointing in terms of picture quality. The vast, vast majority of them are converted after the fact. I know that Cameron's focus was on 3d so I should give it a look. |

Yup, you nailed it. Lucas came up with iconic characters and unfortunately that gave the whole series a better standing than it otherwise deserved. With the exception of Empire Strikes Back and Rogue One most of the movies were mediocre at best.

aside from jar jar
I thought the first three movies were well written but just didn't flow great
the opening on revenge of the sith and the last 30 minutes of the clone wars was outstanding as was the fight scene in sith between "vader" and obi won
darth maul needed a little development and the same for general grievous
the last 3 were blah at best
maybe because I do not find kylo ren, rey or finn to be likable characters |

Cameron specifically made Avatar for 3D, and IMAX.
I've never seen a movie in IMAX before or since that looked close to as good as Avatar did. |

2-4 was boring for the most part. And a lot of un needed dialogue.
Episode 5 and 6 of the show were 9/10 while 2-4 was like a 2/10. The childish chase scenes. The fake jedi. The whole 3rd sister I found to be a terrible story. - DirtyDan
I agree and the third sister was a nice idea but a horrible execution |

If you put a gun to my head and said I had to pick between the Christmas Special and Attack of the Clones, I'd probably pick the former.
