I 3 mill for a guy that puts up 6 in 7 games against the league’s best goalie is reasonable. - Grinder47
How much is a minus 6 goal differential in 7 games worth? |

I don’t believe in plus minus, even the new one. Those bare numbers don’t take hockey variables into account. I was waiting for your copy and paste hockey eval. Glad you didn’t disappoint. |

So scoring more than the other team isn’t your objective? Bold strategy. |

So Malkin is now more of a hockey icon in Pittsburgh than Lemieux because he has 1 more cup? |

I would have to look at every goal too deem who is at fault. Like coaches do. |

Come on man, the Pens were f'n hemmed in their own zone and scored on when he was on the ice quite often vs Rangers. When Sid went down in game 5, they were up 2-0 and Carter got put on 1st line right away...f'n chaos ensued and they had 3 goals scored on them in around 3 mins...then Geno replaced him there and that line tied the game with a few mins left in 2nd. Then in the 3rd the Rags get a PP goal..4-3..game over. |

I still like Carter and still think he has some good qualities for the team but if he continues how he left off this past season, and its entirely possible he doesn't because he might not be used as much this next season plus rested this offseason, then he's not cut out for 3rd line C. I'd be more comfortable with him as 4C and PKer...but....he's paid too much for that haha.
EDIT Why in the flying fvck did Hex think that extension needed to be made then? hahah oh my |

No team is without their bad contract(s) and if Carter's contract is the worst one on the Pens I'm not going to complain... much lol.
I think the Pens biggest spending issues are on the LHD part of this team. |

If I had to rank the bad contracts on this team...
1) One of Matheson, Dumo or Pettersson is one too many.
2) Zucker
3) Carter
Honorable mention to McGinn. I don't think his is a bad contract per-se, but it's a little too long and while I think he's a decent player I'd rather spend that money on Heinen. |

Pens already have a better 3C that they keep forcing onto the 4th line. - Feds91Stammer
No Crosby, No Malkin and Carter carried the load for the Pens to start the season. I like Blueger but do you really think he would have carried the load as a 1C? No chance.
I think the Blueger could make a decent 3C but Carter is a way better player.

ERod carried the load not Carter. Carter was a minus player all year. He’s cooked. |

Yeah. It was dumb Sid had to sit out for no real reason. Should be players choice with no concussion symptoms. |

That 1.9 next season would cover the reported gap with Letang and get us closer to Geno as well without making a move, or possibly just completely pay for MAF(not fair to just trigger Billy lol).

The term “trigger” is very over used. Usually by people that really have nothing to say. |

It hurts more because if they lose him they hung on to 4 crappy years of nostalgia and got nothing in return. |

Nah, it happens in sports. I have no doubt Malkin will be back. Letang is what will hurt. |

I always felt they can get 1 not both. Letang should be the priority. If Malkin will take under $7m do it. They still need more F support. |
