I'd be real interested in seeing the league directives for the refs in these playoffs. Majority of the first 3 rounds were called like October games, tons of PP's. This series and especially tonight's game are being called more like playoff games, anything goes.

What is that deal though? We mostly all admit these have a high potential to be bad contracts. Letang wants 1D money until he's 40, no way that works out. I think we do want them signed largely for nostalgia, at least I do.

But if Hextall goes another route and gets younger players at decent salaries with that money, I can't really say that's a bad decision.

See reply to stevens87 at 10:36am EST haha

There's no doubt nostalgia, of course there is, but I personally believe for the next 3 years in Sid's contract they can be still quite effective with those 2 and that what they can bring the next few years can't be replaced with younger players. However, I have said many times I truly believe that Sullivan gets great results out of lesser rosters, that he's the man for the job if a big personnel turnover .. So there's that too haha never know how it'll all work out for sure.

Yup. Six years ago. Sid and Geno were different players then. Right now the Pens need to outfit the lineup with more impactful players.

The window has been closed for four years. It's a young mans game.

Uh.. Phil Kessel anyone?

If we can get a Phil Kessel for half price. That would solve some problems. Another Brian Dumoulin for Jordan Staal trade would help also.

Those were both situations that fell into the Penguins laps. I don't see anything even close to that happening again.

This may be true. When you haven't won a playoff series in 4 years and went out in the second round the year before...may be time to start a retool unless you just want nostalgia.

Shame about the 2012 pick in that Staal trade; that top-10 was the weakest it's been in years.

I didn't mean for now, I meant in re: to the Sid and Geno were different players back then lol like they had Kessel lighting it up too, it wasn't like they threw the Pens on their back.

So the Avs had 6 skaters on the ice in O.T and Cooper is having a theatre session. But.....if you look, the Ligjtning have 7 sweaters on the ice. Bet Cooper don't wanna talk about that....

Possession matters so I understand his point. But it's a 1 on 3 and he danced through them. And they also scored in game 7 against the islanders last year with 7 guys on the ice when they were shorthanded.

The officiating stinks, and either the refs missed it or they figured he wouldn't go 1 on 3 to win.
