I’m really curious what Toronto is going to do. I wonder if they would be open to moving Marner before his NMC kicks in. His cap hit is huge but interested to see what they do. Gotta think they do something of significance with how they have preformed come playoff time.

but, imagine Toronto traded Marner to Arizona for 3rd overall and drafted Cooley

it would definitely be smart of them to do that, because it's the last two years of his contract that have an NMC

it would actually be smart of them to talk to Arizona, Marner gets 7.25 million this coming season as a signing bonus on July 1st, and then only a 750K salary during season

so essentially Arizona could have a 10.9 million dollar cap hit (or Buffalo) for just 750K in cash in 2022-23

plus, it would be really funny if Marner got stuck in Arizona

Signing Tavares was the most hilariously stupid thing Dubas could've done

I'm sure they can trade Nylander very easily. He was a PPG player across the regular season as well as the playoffs. May help to address either their goaltending or defense needs too.

I saw him in a florist in Westbury on Valentines Day when I was picking up flowers. He pretty much fit that description. I was thinking "wow that guy looks just like Tavares" until I realized he was wearing an NHLPA logo beanie and it was actually him

Why the hell would he go all the way to Melville for a deli?

UPDATE: Chris Kreider underwent successful surgery today to remove a small bone fragment from his wrist. The expected timeline for recovery is 2-4 weeks. The surgery was performed by Dr. Robert Hotchkiss at Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC.

All the talks in T.O. are to bring the same band back and hope for Washington Capitals Magic. It took them 5+ years as well.

Leafs will tweek the secondary guys but nothing major comming IMO.

Pierre Luc Dubois wants out of WPG. He centered Panarin in CBJ and told WPG he’s going to test free agency when he’s an UFA. I wonder if he would agree to a long term extension if he left WPG now as a RFA. I’d guess he would want around 8 million though and who knows what the cost would be to get him. Might be better off waiting the 2 years for him to be a UFA and the cap going up.

His Qualifying Offer is approx. $7.3 mill. He would check ALL of the boxes for a 2nd line center that we need, I just don't see how we could fit him under the cap.
Plus, Jets are going to ask for a substantial package, I'm thinking Kakko and Miller would be their starting point...

realistically the Rangers only chance of getting involved in these kind of things is if they traded Panarin

Sources say Barry Trotz has decided NOT to immediately jump back into coaching. Trotz informed the Winnipeg Jets of his decision today and intends on continuing to focus on family. Trotz acknowledged how difficult the decision was to not accept the head coaching job in Winnipeg.

speculation was that he would want to go to Winnipeg because he's from there

my whole thing is that anybody from Winnipeg would definitely not want to go coach there, they know as well as anyone that it's -40 degrees from November to March

Let’s say hypothetically we traded Panarin and whatever we got for him sent to WPG for PLD and signed him for 8.5x7 years. Are we better off with PLD and 3 million in cap space? Or better off with Panarin and less cap space?

I see the blog will be inundated with Panarin trade possibilities and what ifs associated with his cap space.
