Karma sweet karma. - Tomahawk
Judgement calls on close plays or line of sight issues happen in hockey all the time. Blatant blown calls that aren't close shouldn't happen. I'd rather see them get it right than karma.

I read this morning that they (the NHL) had 6 skaters on the ice on the score sheet after the goal, but than edited it later claiming that the mistake was made due to a player jumping on the ice for the celebration after the goal was scored. |

Ok, I will admit it, I am feeling a lot better about the Torts hire than I did last week. What really impacted my opinion of Torts was his interview with Jason Myrtetus this week. As a coach myself, I could really relate to what Torts was talking about. He seems to really love the Flyers and seems to be genuinely excited about this opportunity, I really hope it works out for him and the Flyers. - jd250

Since things are slow (I'd say glacial, but why torture ourselves.), I thought that this article was worthy of a read.

Interesting article. I have a relative who took his own life while in a deep depression. They tried everything traditional medicine had to offer including electro-shock, but nothing worked. I wish he had tried marijuana and/or psychedelics. I think because he and his wife were both MDs they were very resistant to it. It doesn't sound any crazier or dangerous, to me, than electro-shock and prescribed drugs that change your brain chemistry. Definetly less barbaric than electro-shock! |

That's right, because God (notice capital 'G' which is the respectful way of spelling it) forbid someone on this site might know much more about the sport than you do. |

The Flyers have pre-empted Felix Sandström's UFA status with a two-year, two-way/one-way contract with an NHL $775,000 AAV.
In other words, in year two, Sandström will make the NHL rate regardless of whether he plays in Philly or Lehigh Valley.

I'm quite sure that there is someone on this site that might know much more about the sport than I do. However based on your posting and recent comments concerning Charlie MacAvoy, who you claim to watch play a lot. I don't have to worry about that being you.
May I offer a piece of unsolicited advice. You keep wanting to offer credentials to support your opinions. In a likely attempt to mask inferiority. When someone who is informed or knowledgeable about a subject, they don't have to offer a credential to support their knowledge. The content of words tells other whether they are knowledgeable or not. So comments such as I've played the game, or telling others they haven't without having any knowledge of that. Or that you've coached, does not do anything to support you. In fact it just further embarrasses yourself. You can take this advice or leave it.
Speaking about what is known. Can you give me some specific insight into Tortorella's systems that he employs?

I coach for a living, that is what I do. I do not coach hockey anymore, but all coaching, whether sports or not, has a bunch of similarities in terms of how to work with people and how you reach people. I found Tort's discussion with Jason on what he has learned about coaching over this career to be quite inline with my own experiences, so it connected with me and thus I feel more comfortable with Torts as the Flyers coach today than I did at this time last week. I shared that on this forum, and as usual was attacked for it by the forum clown and yourself. So let me give you a bit of unsolicited advice. Why don't you show more respect to people and their opinions versus making assumptions; it may get you much farther in life.
Regarding Tort's systems, if you are interested, do what I did and google it. There is plenty out there. When I reviewed his defensive zone structure, and who knows if this is still accurate to the present day, I liked it and felt RR would benefit from it. Again just my opinion which I shared on this forum, since that is what this forum is for. And again, you decided to attack it.
Finally regarding McAvoy, tell me what I said about him that you don't agree with. I stated McAvoy was a good defenseman but a player I would not have given that contract to. I also stated I thought York had a chance to be as good as McAvoy as he develops. Again, what is wrong with this statement? I do watch McAvoy a lot, and I think he is good, but he is not elite by any means. |

I'm not interested in what his systems have been. I already know that and can talk in depth about it. What is his defensive structure. What systems has he used in the past? You claimed that you spent the weekend researching it. So you should be capable of discussing it. What's the problem.

McAvoy is more than just a good defenseman. He is an elite defenseman in this league. As evidenced by his ranking as 2nd team ALL NHL and finishing 4th in Norris trophy voting. Though certainly possible, it is a high goal for York to attain. This is just more evidence of your lack of knowledge of the sport and it's players. Similar to when you claimed that Mitch Marner was also not an elite player as he just racked up 1st team ALL NHL honors for the 2nd year in a row. And on and on and on and on.
