I'm not Bill, but I'll chime in anyway. When you have back to back seasons as crappy as the last 2, I think there are quite a few players that need to hit the road. Honestly, the only guys I wouldn't be looking to move are Hart, players under 25 with 3 years or less of NHL experience and a few vets like Couts and Atkinson. Everyone else should be on the market. - BiggE
I would move Atkinson if they could.

A lot of players have already hit the road
Raffl
Ghost
Hagg
Voracek
Patrick
Myers
Aube-Kubel
Giroux
Braun
Yandle and Thompson won't be back unless Fletcher is even stupider than we thought. - Feanor
Yet many still are around are they not? Of those you mentioned some are fringe players and not that relevant to the core.

Jeff Petry - 6.25 aav for 3 more seasons with a m-ntc, nmc. There would have to be something significant going the other way in a trade.
Nate Schmidt - M-ntc with 5.95 aav for 3 more seasons. Same goes here in terms of something significant going the other way in a trade.
Tyson Barrie - 2 more seasons at 4.5 aav.
I would be interested to see your trade proposals. Also, why do you believe this? Not saying I disagree or agree, just wondering as to your reasoning. - MBFlyerfan
Petry already refused to be traded to the Flyers.

what would get a better return, cam or Couts? We could keep a vet no matter which one we choose. |

Getting rid of players only makes the team better if the replacements are better. So when you get rid of guys like Ghost and NAK only to bring in Risto and MacEwen, and get rid of Myers and Patrick only to bring in a guy who plays 4 games, you end up 29th. |

There's zero chance either of them gets moved. Couturier has a NMC, and Atkinson is the one who convinced them to hire Torts as coach.

Rumored JVR deal from deadline. Petry wouldn't waive. He will change his mind.
Nate will be part of a blockbuster with Scheifle coming in as well....Ivan/Sanheim and TK
Barrie to improve that PP. Oilers want to move him out it seems. Maybe Oscar as 1 less year and saves some on the cap for the oilers. Not sure how many suitors they will have for Barrie.
Other moves will be made to make room. - hello it's me 2050
I would not trade JVR for another big cap hit on longer term for a 34 year old dman. I want to clear cap space not add more for two more seasons. Especially an older player. Having said that, I have no idea what Chuck would do and wouldn't put it past him.
Ivan, Sanheim, and TK for Schmidt and Sheif would be a fireable offense. But as Ive said, I have no idea what Fletch is thinking.
I could see that trade for Barrie, but not sure that would be enough for the Oilers.

Anyone have any realistic trades you’d like to see? Anticipate seeing? Etc?
It seems to me the Flyers need a top 6 center, a truly gritty 4th line (these playoff teams all have such things), and a top 4 RHD. - mikeyo27
Why did they signs Hayes for 7 x 7 if he's not a top 6 center?

Players grow stale. Simple as that. Sometimes change is needed. That is incorrect that the replacements have to be "better" players. It is also about fit and role. Not saying give anyone away as they have individual value. As a team they suck balls.
Rather have had those 2 to just ride it out no doubt That being said they still finish where they finish with NAK and Ghost. Are you one of those guys who thinks Ghost is a top 4 dman?

Flyers where a bottom team when that proposed trade came about. I do not blame him for not waiving. It is possible the Flyers make some moves that he likes and then he has a different perspective where the team is headed. That is one scenario no?

I think Petry will age fine. I have no issue with that deal as it is short term. As well as the direction this team is headed and the uncertainty of Ellis.
We shall see on the others......These are the type of moves Chuck can sell and can see doing if on the table. |

They made a lot of changes, and had their worst season since 06-07. More bad changes will make the team worse. Change isn't necessarily good.
Ghost was a 50 point dman. None of the Flyers dmen cracked 32, and Risto had 16 while also being poor defensively like he has been his entire career.

There isn't much doubt as to Chuck's first move. He is going to move JVR to clear cap space and it will require eating a large portion of salary or attaching draft picks to the deal.
The question is, since the Flyers already don't have this year or next year's 2nd rounder, what picks are being moved with JVR? The 2024 first rounder? |

This is why I think they should just hold on to him until the deadline and get ANYTHING for him then. Then he is completely off the books next season and you can use that 7 mil then....Hence why I don't want him traded for Petry and basically have that cap space eaten up for 2 more seasons after that. Petry may be still a good player but he isn't worth that cap hit nor is he the right player for a team that should be rebuilding and banking cap space.

What Ghost did in Arizona is irrelevant. It wasn't gonna happen here. I am sure you disagree. Flyers misused RR. He should have bene on the PP for an extended look based on his prior production. At least then you may get some value out of him. Comical he wasn't used in that area.
Bad changes yes do not help. As I said they all have value individually. They can be moved in hockey deals. Talent will come back. This group has accepted losing. Changed coaches too many times. Move the players out.

Stop with this they will trade the 2024 Florida 1st. There is no chance that happens imo. To me that is just silly for where the Flyers are at. |
