Were we better off with Benning?

Ya, it's not a very good drafting record. Not sure Allvin is much better, but we shall see how things work out this draft.

Some context needs to be put into that draft list, it’s not as black and white as here’s a list…it sucks. What was his draft position, was his team competing for a Stanley Cup, strength of the draft…etc. etc.

As you stated, an entire draft is much more the product of a department than one person. The GM has a huge say in the first round pick but after that the scouting department traditionally plays a huge role. Every situation is different, like if you have a Jim Benning who thinks he’s the smartest man in the room and he overrules his own department.

At #15 you’re most likely going to get a project player who’ll continue to develop for a few years. Occasionally you’ll get an impact player but not very often.

Days ago hockeyprospecting put out a "top 32" list and Lane Hutson was #8 but to response to that this was said about where he should go by the guy who put out the list.

I would say very little chance he goes 1st round. Around pick 45 to 50 sounds about right.

Winnipeg would be best to move on from PLD and Mark Schiefele. Those two turning into brats.

Reminds me of Matt Duchene and Ryan Johansen. Not worth the money, not worth the hassle.

If it’s part of a Miller trade to where they get another/higher first round pick, good with me.

Curtis Lazar on if he is a UFA, would he like to sign in VAN : That would be pretty cool, I am a BC boy. I had Canucks colours in my room, Being a Canuck would be special but I am still property of the Bruins, I leave that to my agents.

This will probably prompt another Makita meltdown. However most players on the team (including Horvat) should be topics of discussion with other teams.

Keep your powder dry!

If he gets a contract over a mil per year, I'd be surprised and hope it's with another team.

Huh??

He’s a league minimum signing as a 4th liner.

You can sign literally anyone to do what he does for league minimum.

This team needs a significant upgrade on D. He's not it.

As I just read on the hockey writers, Canucks and Islanders are perfect trade partners.

NYI get Miller and the Canucks can pick between Bailey or Beavuiller plus Varlamov because he's a perfect 5M back up for Van and 3rd pairing defender Scott Mayfield going into the last year of his contract. Van may or may not also get the 13oa pick, not clearly stated.

Van has to take on 5M cap space and doesn't get a lot or anything that they wouldn't for Miller but yeah know. Fantastic.
