I’m not a Leaf’s fan but I do live in Toronto.

1. Leaf fans don’t give a poop about your team or your fans. That’s why it’s hilarious to see people like you get so offended and obsessive about them. It’s laughable bud. You guys aren’t even considered unless Leaf’s are playing your team. You folks need counselling to stop obsessing.

2. Leafs have the biggest fan base in the world (overall). There are more Leafs fans in any every Province who don’t cheer for their local team. Same in Europe as well as USA. You go to any barn and there are Leafs fans. There is a massive amount of people outside of Toronto that love the Leafs.

3. Leafs will never win ever ever? Like ever? It’s a pretty sad reality of celebrating lack of success in others brings you joy…when dealing with your own failures.

4. Great advice there though and o hope all Leafs fans are paying attention!! The way to win a Cup is for the FANS to stop evaluating and living their players as much as they do! Who would’ve thought!!! This whole time it had nothing to do with systems, rosters, in game management, etc., it had everything to do with Leafs fans thinking Kaprozov is better than Matthews!!

Neither of them play a “tough” game - I’d keep Marner over Willy - way more upside. Marner is a Penalty killer, playmaker and this year added his shot threat. Willy is predominately a sniper - a very good one but it’s really what he is about.

To me expecting either of these players to be something they are not is just a recipe for disappointment.

My thing has always been that Marner is a better player and will get you a way bigger impactful return that can plug and fill literally all the needs for the Leafs as the big part of a deal.

I say trade him vs Willy because of that. The return. And I get that he is on the PK but that can be taught and the loss isn’t extreme in thy area. As for the impact on Matthews - Matthews will score regardless of who he plays with. When Babs refused to put Marner on his wing as coach and when Marner was playing poorly he put Mitch on the 3rd line for a while of you remember - Matthews still scored. He will always score. Maybe 50 rather than 60 ha!

For me Marner is a special player that you just don't trade because you'll never win that deal. The Leafs had their best season in franchise history and were within one shot of beating Tampa, I think the idea that they have a holes all over the place they need to fill is an overreaction and would be a massive overcorrection. Which I expect is how they'll proceed, keep all their core guys, resign Campbell and find a way to deal with the backup situation.

There's always things nobody on here thinks of in the summer. Nobody said they should sign Bunting, Kase and Kampf. Nobody was like hey they should get Gio for a deep discount for two years. Everybody's big idea begins and ends with they must make a huge trade. I just don't see good teams trading away their best players when they are knocking on the door. It's a fan idea.
