Really is go for it now time. He’ll be looking for a payday at same time that Matthews is up. - Canada Cup
I hope so, it means he will be a Rielly to Brodie quality and not Travis Dermott quality. |

Who cares Fif'sy .....both Dubas and Keefe are here for another year.
I say our focused debate needs to be about the on-ice roster. What's the plan this summer?
Mrazek is job one ...and getting all the options for goal figured out. Might be as simply as a buyout, sign Jack and vet backup. I wouldn't hate it.
D is pretty locked in ...maybe Holl can be bounced to free up a few bucks.
If Mrazek and Holl are out then theres a few million (plus Kerfoots AAV) to find a better fit for Tavares' line.
Also need to find a couple of 800k 4th liners that can play and skate.
Wildcard move - Willie, if the price is right. - The Law
I only say it because I get "the lecture" fairly regularly around here. People do the same stuff or worse responding to me....crickets.
But yes, more Keefe, more Dubas. It's gonna be different this year....!? |

I've been beating the John Gibson drum for a while, because I think he's better than Jack Campbell. Mainly, because Campbell hasn't proven anything yet..
The Leafs forward group is solid still... The defense, as a unit, is good enough I think.. Lily has been better than I thought he was and he should have played more in round 1.
The goaltending, I like Campbell, I really do, but I just don't see him stealing a game/series for the Leafs.. Sometimes, a goalie needs to win you a game. In his 2 playoffs, he hasn't outplayed his opponent. Granted, it was against Carey Price and Vasilievskiy, but in a 7 game series, your goalie can't just "hang in there." They need to outshine the other goalie. - PatC80
I know you're a big fan of Gibson whereas I am not. So tell me, your best fan guess at what a trade looks like?

Leafs didn't win because of megadowner fans. Lack of BeLeaf. You guys have no one to blame but yourselves. - Zezel
it makes me laugh... cuz fans are still going on about the leafs, when I have moved onto the summer Leafs (jays) who are still disappointing me today.

Sandin not signed yet...CJ said it but I am speculating as well that the Leafs might have some trade options and he would be the main piece. We'll see, would love to have him here long term as well.
I also think Lil earned a better contract than Sandin. - Santo_44
Maybe but they do one at a time and Lilligren would be first priority. Leafs were vulnerable from offer sheets if both were unsigned. I’d still be surprised if they moved Sandin. They’ve been patient with both of them. Maybe if there’s a big return. |

No fluff, that is what occurred.
Imo it wasnt an awful trade, the leafs got what they needed at the time.
It then opened up cap space the following year to continue to make improvements.
Kadri was suspended the two following years with the avs as well. - Fakepartofme
It was an awful trade, and they definitely didn't get what they needed at the time, this is displayed by the idea that they haven't been a single step further since trading Kadri and Colorado happily fit him into their blueprint and just won a cup for it. It doesn't matter he was suspended with Colorado too, it matters they won a cup.
It was piss poor given the value they were peddling, with some patience that return could have been greatly improved. If Barrie has term that would have changed things because they would have an asset to continue managing, he didn't.
I've defended Dubas at length but this deal was not good work by him, it was the exact opposite. |

Can probably re-sign Kuemper or get someone who can do the job, he wasn't exactly lights out. They were pretty dominant making their way through the West with young dmen in Makar and Byram still just getting started. I think they're good for one more solid run next year, after that they have to extend Mackinnon and Byram which is when they're really going to have to make some tough cap decisions. - 13sundin13
I can see mack signing a team friendly team |

I could see DET trading for Holl in the next few weeks.
They need some D to fill out their D corps and they can probably flip him at the TDL for the same or more than what he would cost now. |

Again, this works both ways.
There are people here saying I "hate" Dubas. I don't hate anyone.
I think that's slightly stronger language than me saying someone was "sugarcoating" an argument.
Yet I get called out for my comment.
Why is that?? - fifty__missions
I have said it multiple times now to everyone to stop, you being singled out is perhaps because you do this exact thing, multiple times daily. As long as that continues you can continue to expect to be singled out.

I think Sandin is an easy contract after the Lil deal. Either the same or a tad less.
For as long as he is not signed I would think he is available for a trade, which makes sense to keep their options open but he is not untouchable in the least. |

I think people are discussing two different things. Did the trade turn out not so good? Yeah it wasn't that good.
If you go back in time to when it happen, did it have the potential to be a good trade and did it look good enough coming off another suspension for Kadri? Yeah.
Not all trades work out. I wouldn't call it a disaster because Kerfoot has been excellent in his role for the leafs especially in the playoffs. Kadri has had some solid years in Colorado and an amazing career year this year. - Aaron_85
See my other post, it was a bad trade the day it was made. Kerfoot has about 25 games as a leaf he was anything above vanilla, 7 of them were during the playoffs but they weren't during these playoffs. |

Lightning winger Corey Perry became the first player since 1970 to lose in the Stanley Cup Final three years in a row. He’s the first in NHL history to do it with three different teams after losing to Tampa Bay each of the previous two seasons, first with the Dallas Stars and then the Montreal Canadiens. |

Nice extension.

The Stanley Cup was awarded 12 hours ago. It's absolutely ridiculous that Holl hasn't been traded yet. |

Can you honestly compare last year’s team to the 20-21 roster and say it didn’t improve? They’ll need to improve it again this summer even though there are big holes to fill. I don’t see why we should assume that won’t happen. |

They just won a cup 3 years after the trade and have made several other changes that resulted in that cup win
And yes, his suspensions did and do matter.
Imo, it was a decent trade that filled the leafs needs at the time as they trying to "go for it" that year as well. But babs F up barrie and his departure opened up cap for Brodie.
Anyways, moving on from the kadri talk ...
....onto goalies, dman and whatnot for the leafs. |
