Kevin Adams interview on WGR550 did not give me hope that the Sabres would improve their Goaltender situation in the offseason. Disappointed after listening to that interview.
- pwasil7

he did specifically say they are looking at 'all options' for goal.

The whole offseason plan sounds lame.

Boston is aging fast, Florida is going to have to shed players, Tampa just went through three straight grueling seasons and have multiple players who might have surgery and miss part of next season (this is speculation but I’d expect it)

The time to pounce is now.

Why can’t the GM come out and say the goal is to put the best possible team on the ice to compete for the postseason?

Instead we get to argue about Craig freaking Anderson

The pressing question is if he files for arb. If he does, pressure is on. If not, then we're stuck in negotiations until close to training camp, when all the unsigned RFAs play a gem of chicken, hoping other signings improve their leverage.
- Lunaion

I'm still not in any hurry.

Rfa's in general wait until the end of the summer.

Olo seems like a guy that could be used to move up in the draft?

From what I've heard, they love the swedish buddies and the "vibes" they add to the lockerroom.

Looks bad IMO if they dont resign olo long term.

🙋‍♂️

I'd pay goaloffson 5 years @ 5.5ish

I'm not worried about him being a consistent goal scorer in the nhl or his injuries.

Just worried about too many soft swedes and the playoffs. Selke larry swede and olo are not playoff built IMO.

So a team like Florida who had toughness, can add soft and skilled players. But then the nhl playoffs happen, and it's a different game than the regular season.....

- Boss34

Would you file for arb?

I would. Also making the assumption that their negotiations haven't started well.

pass
- TheSabresTaco

Why pass on wood?

Double digit goals the past 4 years (aside from last season)

Upgrade over vinnie and drake .....

Very Girgensons type guy.
Buffalo =latvia
Similar climate.

Maybe he takes great28's spot?

There are terrible rumors floating around regarding Kim, per a text received by a coworker.

I hope they're not true.

I'm not sure if olofsson would force arbitration?

That could force his way out of a really comfortable situation in buffalo.

Playing for a team that has showed the utmost loyalty, being drafted and groomed as a 7th rounder.

I think olo loves his situation, best friend, and donnie the center whisperer as coach. Helps his style of play IMO.
Wide open offense......

Each player is different. He strikes me as a long time sabre.... well represented off the ice too.

Exactly what they've been preaching.
Buffalo guy, team glue guy, pay your own....

Nothing leads me to believe hes not going to be a Sabre next season.

I didn't even want to share it, as I don't know the source.

I asked, is this person credible? Usually is, was the response.

From my usual sources they are saying it's super hush and nobody is talking.

But if she is on her death bed you would think her daughter would be there

Honestly, I don't see it. I get the thinking behind it, but I don't think it's really applicable here. This team finished nearly 30 points out of a playoff spot in one of the smallest markets in sports. That means there are only 2 types of players that will be willing to sign here. The first is the one that is desperate to stay in the show. He won't have that leverage. The second is the one that will be going to the highest bidder no matter what, where if you want the guy, you're going to have to meet or exceed what other teams are doing regardless of where your floor is. You're essentially opening an umbrella indoors at this point of the offseason. He's either outthinking himself and nobody else, or signaling a very boring offseason without trying to sound like he's trying to signal a very boring offseason.
- buffalofan19

My initial take on that comment from Adams was he was referring to his own RFA / UFA players he indends to resign. But I'm operating from the framework that there won't be but 1 or 2 new UFA's added so I could be missing that side.

I'm sure you know how quickly things can sour. He's already heard the rumors.

Just my guess, but he's looking for 6+ years. Sabres are looking at options to move him and discussing a 3 year deal.

He might be a nice guy, but that's why you hire an agent.

What mogilny did was brave, detective russia

I'm not sure if that has any importance on being a hall of Famer?

He wasnt the 1st russian player correct? just the 1st to skip out on his country to play in north America

I thought many players headed over soon after.
Mogilny didnt pave the way if I remember correctly, he just left without waiting for a russian agreement and blessing.

- Boss34

Good post, What is detective russia?
