small market teams that have cap space, if they want to compete should use that space on actual players instead of paper moves

our gm is more focused on waiting for a blah goalie craig anderson to decide if he wants to come back for 1 more year

- homiedclown

Anderson just signed for 1.5

you can sign either Trocheck or Copp
sign Klingberg
trade for one of the caps goalies

be under the cap

and still keep your picks and prospects and ice a team on paper that can compete with the bruins and leafs this fall

instead we are writing a million dollar check to bishop this weekend

- homiedclown

When they do, that contract might be worth some assets to teams in Cap hell.
Trade it to VGK for Nick Hague.

Wonder what the Contract value is for Hague that would cause VGK to "walk"?

Ben Bishop?

He has negative value, he is not generating any return other than free.

So UPL and AARP in the cage this year. sounds like another ,miserable year. Andy if he plays 25 games that will be a lot and frankly, I don't think UPL is any good at all. he is also hurt all the time.

Come on GMKA, be better.

I did not mind if Andy resigned as a back up to a legit starter.

I still would like to see Holtby signed for 2 years. I would package UPL in a deal to anyone who would take him.

Kid had a .917 sv pct. and generally played well while up.

Can he stay healthy?

Don't have to love it, but this started the day they hired KA, slashed the budget and got cheap extending their players.

Hard to replace Giambi, Damon, and Isringhausen.

- Lunaion

Hard to replace but they had some great players on that team that Moneyball never mentioned.

As Moneyball mainly focuses on Billy Beane and the players who weren’t expected to perform, it omits the fact that the Oakland Athletics had both the American League MVP in Miguel Tejada and the American League Cy Young Award winner Barry Zito in the team roster. Tejada played all 162 games for the Oakland A’s that season and hit .308 with 34 home runs and 131 runs batted in, according to Baseball-Reference. Meanwhile, in 35 starts in 2002, Zito went 23-5 with a 2.75 ERA (Earned Run Average) and 182 strikeouts with just 78 walks in 229.1 innings, according to the MLB. Those two obviously played a huge role in helping the Athletics to the division title that year but aren’t really mentioned in Moneyball at all.

I guess I will wait to see if GMKA does anything else in Net. if he gets a Holtby or legit NHL goalie, fine, if not its gonna be another LONG year.

And then when it came time to actually pay those players Oakland did neither and they both walked in free agency.
