If any of them were available that’s the order I’d take them in. - ImThatGuy
You'd move Olofsson and our 2nd to draft into that tier? I'm not sure I would. I don't think I'd lose my mind, but I think it's a waste of an asset. I'd rather draft at 9 and use 16 and Olofsson on, (frank)in, Da Brinks.
This is a Hockey Message board, every person here has the right to express what they are feeling. Especially after the Sh!t Show on ice for the last decade. Sabres have what seems to be a bright future. But these 2 moves do not bread confidence in fixing the G situation. You can feel as confident as you want in the future, but don't do moves that make people think "Oh Here We Go Again" right of the bat. That just makes me think of Sh!t Show again.

Ok, in all seriousness
Do u think the Sabres are moving in the right direction?
You previously have stated that u like all the young talent we have
How good we become is gonna be based on the development of that young talent
Signing Malkin won’t make Power grow up any faster
Signing Letang won’t keep Peterka from making rookie mistakes
Signing Kuemper won’t mean that we win every close game we are in
Bc of all the young talent we have,
this team will still be a work in progress
Can’t accelerate the development of the kids simply bc management has made mistakes in the past that has resulted in a playoff-less streak - jdfitz77
No, but you CAN sign quality vets/high end guys and fill in the gaps with kids who can/will make mistakes.
It's all the middling junk players you want to avoid. Just need to make sure everyone is on the same page and understands the situation they're in.

To be fair Gerbe has also said that is not priority 1 this year, and he knows a little something. - ImThatGuy
He told us Johnson and them were signing and not to worry.... Howd that go
Ain't nobody here knows what's going on. They can be told from a friends brothers mothers counsins uncles daughters husband that they know. But they do not.

I refuse to lose my poop before July 15.
I can promise you that I will if nothing improves, at any position, especially goalie.

I dunno I talked to Tuch last week and he's pretty (frank)in excited.

No, you don’t have the “RIGHT” to anything that goes on here
You may CHOOSE to b!tch, but that isn’t you’re RIGHT
I don’t think u know what a “right” is
But regardless,
even if these moves don’t inspire you that we’ll bring in another goalie- we just don’t know what’s gonna happen
And acting like the sky is falling before free agency even starts is just ridiculous
Let’s just see what happens
No one here wants an Anderson/UPL tandem in the fall, but it’s a long summer & the offseason hasn’t really even started yet

We can’t sign anyone right NOW
Free agency hasn’t begun yet

Really. Like 9 and 41, sure I'll bite. But Olofsson is a quality asset. I don't think you guys are giving him enough credit. Use him on a defenseman! - TheSabresTaco
If it was 9, 28, and 41 for 2, I'd do that as well. I'd think 28 is a little more valuable than VO.

What part of it is insane? We all loved this team at the end of last year. The fact that we are arguing over bringing in washed-up vets tells me that we are in a pretty good spot. Everything is trending in the right direction - why isn't that a good thing?
Better yet.... how many franchises would you trade with right now? - Slump Buster
A lot of them?
Edit- the insane part is saying we had an unbelievable season

Who's up for grabs next offseason?
Here's the problem. It's doubtful you're going to be able to get enough high-end free agents to want to sign here next year, especially if you "stay the course", which will most likely mean missing the playoffs by a mile again next year. A locker room where guys all feel good about themselves might be good enough to lure veterans towards the end of their careers, or middle of the pack players looking for the biggest payday, but it's not going to get the high end guys here, not in this market.
We saw this song and dance in 2011 when the Pegulas bought the team. We were all sure big name FAs wanted to come here because Terry was building Hockey Heaven. Instead, we had to beg Robyn Regehr to waive his no trade clause, sign Christian Ehrhoff to a massive deal that the league changed the rules for (I admit, I loved that deal at the time), and Ville Leino. We were all shocked when Brad Richards wouldn't even give the Sabres an audience. If the team still doesn't make signficant waves in the win column, players won't want to come here, no matter how "great the locker room is". That's just not enough of a sell to the players that matter.
Now, there is always the trade route, but nothing Adams has done has indicated that he's willing, let alone able to pull off those savvy type moves. - buffalofan19
Build your team through the draft, make savvy trades, use UFA's to fill in gaps.
Don't use UFA as ghe primary method to acquire high-end talent.
By draft 8 1st and 2nd rounders over the next 2 years, and developing the existing young players to reach their ceilings...then you are in position to pull off savvy trades like LA did yesterday.

The two moves don't need to breed confidence. What is puzzling is that they breed distress.
