They won a playoff series two years ago.
Won two playoff series this season
McDavid has played in 37 playoff games so far. - sbroads24
And this is supposed to change my mind... how? McDavid and Draisaitl played out of the skulls and they still didn't sniff the finals. Much of their success was due to the addition of Kane - he isn't on their roster as of next week. So they have two stars and then a mediocre roster.

Build your team through the draft, make savvy trades, use UFA's to fill in gaps.
Don't use UFA as ghe primary method to acquire high-end talent.
By draft 8 1st and 2nd rounders over the next 2 years, and developing the existing young players to reach their ceilings...then you are in position to pull off savvy trades like LA did yesterday.
The time is coming...stay the course. - IonSabres
Exactly. Has been the best GM (up to this point) we had in years. Has a plan and has actually stuck to it so far |

Tage Thompson played out of his skull and we’re picking top 10.

Varlamov. Still not too old, only 1 year left. It allows us to find out what we have with UPL. - Slump Buster
I like that idea
Talbot could be a decent option as well
Both should come fairly cheap |

So real quick on Luukkonen. If the Sabres push back down to the AHL at 23 it’s not uncommon. It lines up with what the rest of the league does. I went back looked at the last 4 seasons and goalies 23 and under that played at least 10 games are in the next tweet…
2018-19: 7 goalies 23 and under played 10 games or more. Averaging 22 games played.
19-20: 8 goalies / average 27 games
20-21: 6 goalies / average 22 games
21-22: 8 goalies / average 29 games
Could UPL still conceivably see 25ish games next season in the NHL? I think so.

What I *think* will be his off-season
Re sign Olo (4 year 20 million)
Quinn and JJ take vacant Forward positions
Sign a vet goalie to a 2 year contract (holtby)
Sign a vet RHD (Gudbranson)
Possible hockey trade of a young guy (mitts) for a different young guy but I doubt that happens
Draft all three 1sts (2 forwards and a D)
Draft your 2nd and 3rd but use our late rd picks to move up in one of those rounds. In the 2nd for a center, or the 3rd for a goalie.
In season:
See how our young players are, if we suck we need to re-assess who are long term options. If we are semi playoff contenders, use a 2023 second to get a veteran to make a push to make playoffs. The long term loss of the 2nd will be made up for the taste of playoffs for young guys
2023 off season:
Big things (big FA signing, trade prospects not part of our plan and our 1st for a core guy. A fiala or a bigger fish like NYR did for Panarin |

Again, I don't know what one has to do with another. I love where our organization is at right now. Do I know if we are going to be a powerhouse? Of course not. I do know that there are a lot of teams that were great over the last 10 years that are aging out - I'd take this org over those teams going forward. - Slump Buster
Well said.
My 2nd team is The Bolts and they are entering the end of their window with not a lot in the pipeline and even less Draft Capital to rebuild on the fly as this roster begins to show its' age in the next season or 2. Their front office has work to do to squeeze out another run or two....let's see if their up to it. |

After listening to the Adams press conference.
It seems like he’s still fishing for another goalie. So the Twitter craziness and hockeybuzz craziness of resigning anderson can chill out |

How many organizations would you really take ahead of ours right now? 5?
Nobody said they had an unbelievable season. What was said was that - all things considered - we had a pretty amazing run over the last few months of the season and that is a LOT to feel great about. - Slump Buster

Actually the 1st amendment gives them the right to give opinions on here. Merica - Fattony1187
The first amendment has nothing to do with who says what on HB. Now if the government punished you for saying something on HB, then sure.
How do you think they ban people for posts here? |

Aside from Ottawa or Arizona you can't do much worse. Columbus seems to be slipping back into the abyss, so maybe them too. |

Multiple sources have told Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman that Tampa Bay is working with Ryan McDonagh to find a potential trade fit.
It is a tough decision for the Lightning because McDonagh has been such an important player for the team since his arrival. He has been superb during Tampa Bay's three straight appearances in the Stanley Cup Final. Tampa Bay wants to bring back some key pending UFAs, including Ondrej Palat and Nick Paul, so some tough calls need to be made to shed some salary. McDonagh still has four seasons left on his current contract that includes a full no-trade clause and a cap hit of $6.75 million, so he has plenty of control over the situation. |
