Leafs hopes for getting to the finals go through Tampa. Boston and Florida will take a step back, next year. Boston due to age and retirements and Florida is in cap hell. They need to shed salary. Leafs are in a position of relative strength, if they make the appropriate moves. If you're doing the Chychrun deal, make sure Mrázek is part of that deal and move the salary out. Georgiev is better then Mrázek and would be on a cheap deal. Find yourself a better starter. I think losing Muzzin and Kerfoot's contracts is a must, as well as punting Holl. Re-sign Lyubushkin. An "A" prospect (Sandin or Robertson) and a pick gets you Chychrun. Try to get Lawson Crouse in a more expanded trade with Phoenix.

Luongo’s NHL stats probably get him in. 19 years and 9th best career save percentage amongst other things.

But his international accomplishments make him a lock in my opinion.

Luongo anf Alfredsson are exactly what I have complained to you idgits about for years - they place a disproportionate weight on longevity.

But what the hell do yo expect when Mike Gartner is the face of the HHOF? He was really good for 100 years - but he was never, ever great.
