So I get an alert on my phone this afternoon, and low and behold I see NAK toe pick and go ass over tincups with the Cup in his hands. Apparently he dented the sacred silver chalice. Ex Flyer taking the curse with him to the Rockies. Can't make this shyte up! |

Rubtsov was just a bad pick plain and simple. I don’t understand why some people just can’t state the obvious. It does happen sometimes. - Djapana
But there were signs ahead of the draft that Hextall deliberately chose to ignore. Rubtsov and his entire Russian team were caught for doping and that is why he fell in the draft. Is it any surprise the player once off the PEDs got injured all the time and didn't develop? But instead of trading up and nabbing a player like McAvoy, because that is what the smartest guys in the room actually do, Hextall trades down and drafts a player on dope. Then to compound this bad pick, Hextall gains a 2nd round pick for trading down and draft Pascal Laberge (who is wallowing in the Bruins org now) with Alex DeBrincat still on the board. Nice work Hexy, you are real savvy drafter! Carter Hart single handedly saved that entire draft class for Hextall. |

Being off of PED's would not be a cause of getting injured all the time. You have not provided any factual information that supports that Hextall ignored anything.
McAvoy, is this the same defenseman that you claim is not an elite player and not worth his contract?
Did Boston trade the 14th pick or did they use it? Was any other team willing to trade their first to the Flyers so they could trade up?
Just when I think you've hit rock bottom, you come up with some other nonsense. |

Drafting is not an exact science. The good GM’s are surrounded by solid assistants and a good scouting department. The GM rarely see’s a lot of the guys they are drafting play very often, simply because their job entails a hell of a lot more. They need to trust what scouts are saying because the scouts are the ones seeing these kids play. The GM takes all the info given and makes a choice. Unfortunately for Flyer fans a few of the Hextall picks haven’t worked out. Hextall is responsible for the picks, but it’s the same for any GM. He drafted some solid decent NHL talent but also missed on a few….to be fair. Let’s just hope they get a good prospect next week. |

The huge variable here though, is the player development issue. There's no guarantee the Makar playing for Colorado blossoms into that same player here in Philadelphia. There's a strong argument that he wouldn't be that same guy here, and rightly so. - Flyerfan2868
This is exactly my thoughts. Whom have the flyers developed recently that is playing above or even to their ceiling?!
Can anybody name anyone?
I legitimately can not think of anybody on this team who developed as planned
I may be wrong but I truly can not think of a single player

Is anyone else beyond tired of the Makar - Flyers situation? Obviously anyone would love Makar on their team but our fanbase has had severe tunnel vision with this draft year. Let’s rewind a little.
It’s 2016-17 season. Giroux arguably has his worst season for us still recovering from his core injury. Fans and media all season long voice their concern of Giroux’s future with us as well as his longevity.
As a franchise, we are depleted at center from prospects and to current talent. Our next best Center Sean “3C” Couturier is fresh off an underwhelming 34 point season. We have a clear massive hole and We just spent the last few drafts drafting D men.
We’re expected to draft 14th. I remember (on here and social media) fans were drooling over the pipe dream of somehow winning the lottery to get our biggest need: a big center man who is right handed. Suddenly this pipe dream becomes reality.
I’m sick of our fanbase acting like none of this exists or happened. It truly sucks we don’t have Makar, as well Patrick not even being on this team anymore, but this obsession that majority of our fan base whines and whines and whines daily over is just getting absurd. - arichardson22
they better hit a home run soon otherwise people are going to continue to flip poop

In hindsight NP to me didn’t have that fire you want to see in a star player.
He just seemed to be a go with the flow kind of guy to me.
I don’t know the kid and just formed my opinion watching his interviews and how he plays.
With the 5th pick next week I hope the flyers do their due diligence and make the right pick.
I was not a fan of The CF hiring. I don’t think he is a very good GM but I still root for him to make the right moves.
I just have little confidence he will.

There's a reason why they use the presentation cup when awarding it to the team and not the real thing.

There have been so many callbacks to that original quote. Utilized over the years quite a bit.
It’s a deep dig, though |

Colorado's process took 13 years between their initial decision to rebuild (with Matt Duchene as the initial player they were going to build around), 11 years since drafting Landeskog second overall. nine years since drafting MacKinnon first overall and seven years since drafing Rantanen in the top 10. Even then, they had to strike gold five years ago in drafting a Junior A defenseman fourth overall. It took missing the playoffs seven times and exiting in the first round three times before they started to closer.
That's fine. They are now the Stanley Cup champions. But let's not pretend that it didn't take a very long time with a whole lot of pain even after they had their forward nucleus in place. - bmeltzer
Flyers missed the playoffs 6 out of the last 10 seasons and made it past the 1st round once. Not sure I get the point you are trying to make about the pain Colorado has suffered when compared to the Flyers strategy of the last decade. |

They kinda were stacked at D, but still missing that #1 guy.
Ghost, Provy and Sanheim would have all made nice top-pairing sidekicks or pretty high end 2nd-pair guys. They were all just misused, miscast and/or rarely slotted correctly. And in Ghosts' case, wrongly discarded. |

I guess I’m still the only one here who has zero faith in Ghost as a top pair anything.
Provorov is only a -11 for his career is damn good considering all the minutes he plays, who he plays against and the teams he’s played on. |

Avs ownership stuck to Sakics vision over the past 10-years, through thick and thin. Thats the real difference between the two franchises.
Flyers just lurch from retool to retool, slapping bandaids on amputated limbs, making so many tragic mistakes along the way. |
