Dont see how Tre could have signed JG last summer after we missed the playoffs and he put up 49 points in 2020/21 and no way he could have traded him at this years deadline when we were in a playoff spot and JG was killing it.. Pretty sure he tried to trade JG last summer and the return was poor so he and JG played chicken and JG won in 2021-22. For this reason Chucky needs to be dealt if he wont sign long term this summer or we will be in the same position next summer.
If JG leaves and we get a decent return for Chucky im OK given we will also have a poop ton of cap space too.

What Chucky wants and what he gets are 2 different things. I disagree, I think Ottawa would jump at a chance to have the brothers and I think the brothers would love to play together. Getting the 7th oa and Sanderson is not unrealistic.

Yep, good GMs get rid of 24-year-old, 40-goal, 100-point players instead of signing them long-term. It's a proven strategy to trade away stars instead of paying them.

They only trade Tkachuk if they don't think he'll extend, and they obviously think he will. They can't sign Tkachuk until Gaudreau is figured out since the Tkachuk contract will be bigger.
