Jeff Marek:
Marek on NYR asking price for Georgiev: “I don’t think they’ve budged off of this, it’ll take a player and high pick or a prospect to get Georgiev away from the Rangers and obviously as of right now nobody has been prepared to pay that price”

Ilya Mikheyev is available if we end up trading Kakko |
|
|
|
I’m not sure I understand the reluctance to move on from Kakko. He certainly hasn’t achieved anything to warrant a pay raise. Not withstanding the fact that he was the 2nd pick, he’s totally underachieved in his time with the team. If by some chance he gets a offer sheet for 4, 5 mil a year. Goodbye and good luck. |

Tampa looking to trade McDonagh, according to Friedman:
According to multiple sources, the Lightning are working with Ryan McDonagh to see if there’s another team he’d consider a trade to. It’s a very, very hard thing for Tampa to think about. McDonagh’s still a tremendous player (he was on the ice for the last shift to preserve the team’s Game 5 victory in Denver that prolonged the Stanley Cup Final) and is hugely popular among his teammates, who were disappointed to hear of the possibility. It’s not what Tampa wants to do, but may have to do.
McDonagh has four seasons remaining on a cap hit of $6.75M, with a full no-trade clause. So he controls his destiny. We will see where it goes, but there are conversations about the future. |

All this, despite Torts completely ruining his game. He came to the Rangers a terrific skater with huge offense upside. Instead, Johnny boy turned him into a stay at home shot blocker. It’s amazing he’s been able to carve out such a fantastic year career. |

Take the picks. It would likely be a bottom feeding team to do so and those picks will be good. Not paying KK over $4M. Imagine what we'd have to pay Miller and Laff if we did. - mames11
What if the Kakko offer sheet is from the Devils? |

He’s so young still. I felt the same about Chytil during the season and looks like he made strides. Gotta be patient. He was hurt most of the season too. There is no reason not to give him two more years on a bridge deal. If after that we don’t see much, we know and you just move on. Imo it’s to early to move on from him |

then we really gotta hope Lafreniere, Kravtsov, Cuylle and Othmann become legit top 6 wingers as Kreider and Panarin get older

Well, then, he isn’t going anywhere. But if package him with Nemeth, can we get a sixth or seventh round pick back? That may be more likely |

Let’s say it’s from Pitt, those picks are likely 20+ in the first and 80+ in the 3rd. I still fully believe Kakko will be a top 6, 2 way forward that will score 60+ a season. I’m not willing to let that go for picks 20+ and 80+. |

Staple: dear god no on this one.
“The Flames’ Sean Monahan, who is coming off March hip surgery (his second in as many years) and has a year left at $6.375 million, has been discussed in trade talks as well with the Rangers, according to two sources, but he certainly would not fetch a huge cost in a trade given his downward trend the past two seasons and injury woes.” |

No thx. Not even if they retained so much $$ it actually increased our cap space |

Could be a decent reclamation project once he hits UFA but not worth giving up assets for.

It would really have to come down to what does he cost and how much will they retain. |

Jesse Puljujarvi apparently wants out of Edmonton. He is a 24 year old RW that is a RFA. His qualifying offer is >$2.5 mill.
I wonder if there is a deal to be made here involving Georgi or Gauthier... |

We have KK and Laffy as our 1-2 RW, Would you want him on the third line? |

I highly doubt Gauthier has any trade value |

Laf is a LW. Possible we move him to the RW, but Kakko and Kravtsov play the right wing. |
