Brought him up a few blogs ago, he’d be a perfect fit - nyrangers9479
For sure. I had the same thoughts last season, but figured Winnipeg would do just about anything to keep the guy they just traded Laine for. Not sure how we could make it work, but he checks pretty well every box. Have to figure he'd be happier living/playing in NY over Columbus or the 'Peg. |

Like Jimmy says, the money doesn't fit and what would they have to give up to make this happen? It would have to be astronomical. - JRR1285
You could try going back in time and undoing that Barclay Goodrow contract |

Is he related or friends with Trouba? Seems to be the way we get players now |

I think the Islanders would like to do that for Josh Bailey. |

There are so many players with worse deals you could have picked before Josh Bailey |

If I could go back in time I would go back to 1955 and bang Marty McFly's mom because she seemed rather easy

It is time to move on from him, but he's been a much better solider than a lot of Isles fans give him credit for. And he's been very good in the playoffs. He's scored at a .8 ppg pace in the last three playoff runs.
Palmieri was a much worse signing. Lee, as much of a good leader and garbage-goal scorer as he is, will absolutely wreck the teams cap at some point in the next few years. Once the production dries up he will be useless. |

I don't know about that. I think if the cap goes up significantly Lee's contract will look on par with similar players. |

We're still a few years away from the cap going up more than incrementally. If I recall, Bettman said it was going to be 4-5 years post-pandemic before that happens. By the time it does, Lee will probably only have one, maybe two years left on that deal. Or he'll just be a UFA. |

I was just looking at the Rangers cap...
If on opening night they iced a starting lineup of:
Panarin-Zibanejad-Kreider
Fox-Trouba
Shesterkin
They'd have 6 players on the ice that took up 61% of their total cap space |

It was the 50's. No cell phones, no cell phone cameras, no social media, no security cameras....you could probably molest someone at second base in the middle of game 7 of the World Series and get away with it as long as you were able to outrun the police |

I don't see how they can hold off for so long with what will essentially be a flat cap. I thought it was hinging on a debt to the owners from the players that would be cleared as long as HRR continued to rise (which I understand is happening faster than expected). Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in? |

Yeah, but the players have to pay back $1B in debt to the league through escrow.
As of March of this year, the NHL was predicting that the cap won't significantly rise until the 2025-26 season
