I’m not sure I understand the reluctance to move on from Kakko. He certainly hasn’t achieved anything to warrant a pay raise. All this, despite Torts completely ruining his game. He came to the Rangers a terrific skater with huge offense upside. Instead, Johnny boy turned him into a stay at home shot blocker. It’s amazing he’s been able to carve out such a fantastic year career.

Take the picks. It would likely be a bottom feeding team to do so and those picks will be good. Not paying KK over $4M. Imagine what we'd have to pay Miller and Laff if we did.

He’s so young still. I felt the same about Chytil during the season and looks like he made strides. Gotta be patient. He was hurt most of the season too. There is no reason not to give him two more years on a bridge deal. If after that we don’t see much, we know and you just move on. Imo it’s to early to move on from him

Let’s say it’s from Pitt, those picks are likely 20+ in the first and 80+ in the 3rd. I still fully believe Kakko will be a top 6, 2 way forward that will score 60+ a season. I’m not willing to let that go for picks 20+ and 80+.
