interesting comparison, althought I would argue that only Larson was a mistake for the ones before picked before Sean at #8 actually :
1 Edmonton Ryan Nugent-Hopkins C Red Deer Rebels - Xizord[WHL] 719 196 332 528 239 2021-22
1 2 Colorado Gabriel Landeskog L Kitchener Rangers [OHL] 738 248 323 571 601 2021-22
1 3 Florida Jonathan Huberdeau L Saint John Sea Dogs [QMJHL] 671 198 415 613 341 2021-22
1 4 New Jersey Adam Larsson D Skelleftea AIK [SEL] 685 33 129 162 402 2021-22
1 5 NY Islanders Ryan Strome C Niagara IceDogs [OHL] 621 130 227 357 376 2021-22
1 6 Ottawa Mika Zibanejad C Djurgardens IF Stockholm [SEL] 685 229 286 515 185 2021-22
1 7 Winnipeg Mark Scheifele C Barrie Colts [OHL] 642 230 347 577 260 2021-22
1 8 Philadelphia Sean Couturier C Drummondville Voltigeurs [QMJHL] 721 180 280 460 277 2021-22
That was a good year…

Well, I guess we can just enjoy only another week of all the Habs get both AL and PLD at the draft rumours.... - Mashadar
meh, I didn't really hear Lafrenière's name being brought up again... and I guess we want to trade Anderson because he isn't french enough? |

Then why argue?
My point was the list is garbage (and pretty much always has been), Wright is the safer pick and likelier to hit potential, and all this Slafkovsky stuff is clickbait.
Whatever man. - Mashadar
Why do you think this is a clickbait conspiracy? Taylor vs Tyler was a thing because 2/3 scouts had Hall and 1/2 had Seguin at #1. He's just reporting their professional opinions and then posting it. |

After the playoffs Lafreniere had, he is not going anywhere even against our 1st pick… People are getting ridiculous with those ideas…

Or because Gallagher and Hoffeman and Byron are untradeable contracts... so you need someone to talk about.
And Drouin, but we know how hopeless that is....

No, the whole McKenzie thing has always been clickbait, regardless of the Slafkovsky ranking this year.
There is zero analysis or reasoning, just a bunch of random scouts that throw in their (I am sure not based) opinions to spit out a list, that McKenzie keeps saying would look different if 10 other scouts did the same exercise.
And then everyone goes apepoop over this list as the "definitive list" rankings.
Funny as (frank).

Always remember that many « specialists » will throw all kind of scenarios out there based on « sources » and if by luck it happens, they will be able to run on that for years…
If it does not happen, they have all kind of make up stries to explain and this gets lost among the 100 other stories other journalists made up…
Journalism is a business…. Best example is Renaud Lavoie who knows mostly nada but is building a personage of someone « connected » who finally knows Jack poop…. But he is on TV every Saturday in the Winter!!!

This.
Burke and the Leafs had Rielly as their #1
I'm sure Bergevin and Timmins had Galchenyuk at #1
Edmonton and whomever was in charge clearly had Yakupov at #1
This happens all the time, we just don't hear about it. I mean look at Dorion on the Sens picking Tyler Boucher out of the (frank)ing blue and then bragging on the radio that he had him in the top-10 of his draft list. Nobody else gave Boucher the time of day. - AdamFrench
Edmonton actually had Murray as first. But the Katz family overruled them…
Interesting that you used that draft as an example as I’ve heard some compare this class to that one. What a stinky draft class that turned out to be. |

So many injuries that year to all the top guys. It's one of the most interesting draft years ever (and not just because it's probably the worst since 2004 as a whole). |

For a kid that age… it is not bad…
Suzuki did better but he was playing with much better players and with much more ice time…
I am not saying it is end of the world but it is not bad either…

I take Couturier before Strome anyday. Hell he's a better player than Nugent-Hopkins.
And if it wasn't for him being injury prone at least.

oh agreed, but this being the inexact science it is, I woudn't qualify a guy with 600+ games and 300+ pts a "mistake" ( and still playing) |
