Well, more specifically Colorado just proved that a tandem setup in goal, along with an elite MVP level Dman with a very good D core and some skilled forwards with killer instinct (McK and Kadri) can bring a cup in.

Do the leafs have the forwards with that killer instinct? Dunno. But they dont have the equivilent D thats for sure....well not the individual elite D. They have some individually good Dmen.

- Fakepartofme

It doesn't matter if they had actual Jesus at right wing, they just won with a tandem. It can be done. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Biggest difference in the series was that Colorado got secondary scoring and the Leafs fourth line got caved by Tampa while Helm, Cogliano and whoever held their own.

Leafs defence was not a big problem and nobody has the same same elite D and next year the Avs probably won’t either

One year, the Leafs will figure it out.. Against Montreal, only the secondary players were scoring. Against Tampa, only the top guys could score.. One year, they'll figure it out.

Sign Nick Paul.

3rd line of Paul-Kampf-Engvall..

- PatC80

to sign Paul will cost between 3~3.5M on a 4 year contract.
Not sure if the Leafs can afford that contract

I wanted the Leafs to snag him at the TDL but didn't.

Sens are moving more kids up and Nick Paul was a casualty. He wanted $4m. Sens sending out signals that they are going to move Connor Brown. He is (I think $3.6m.). Both would be a great fit for the Leafs. But very pricey for 3rd line players.

Seravalli speculated Blackwood for JC's rights. Maybe you add Holl and they retain a bit as well? Then you sign MAF 2X4M.

As for Mrazek maybe you use Kerfoot and get a Joey Anderson in return. Something like Mrazek and Kerfoot to CHI for Boris Katchouk?

Sign PK for cheap. Trade Sandin for Pulujujarvi and sign him 2x3M.

Engvall(1.7M)-Kampf-?
Robertson-Abruzzese-Anderson

Rielly-Brodie
Gio-Lil
Muzzin-Subban(1.25M)
guy

Fleury 4M
Blackwood 1.8M

2.3M for that RW spot

That would be nice.. Hopefully, both Colorado and Tampa can split Petr Mrazek. Since he's the Leafs best trade chip

It is quite fair.

Both sides of the fanbase probably say they are giving up slightly more and that's when you know its fair

I don't know.. I'm not really a fan of Puljujarvi's..

I'd prefer to keep Sandin

Maybe but how confident are you that Muzzin survives this year/next year and that we have someone to step in? They’ve invested too much time in Sandin and given the potential hole his departure creates means the return on any trade had better be better than just a “fair trade”.

Lol. Oiler fans would jump at that deal as would Holland. Pulj may not even get qualified. Trading Sandin and signing him to 3 mill per would be a fir-able offence.

Still somewhat fatigued - like 10 to 15% below normal. I’m walking the dog and swimming and everything else but just generally more tired. I still cough occasionally but I finally tested negative after 3 and a half weeks. My wife somehow avoided getting it.

Similar to you, though it’s been about 10 days now. Still hacking up the odd phlegm ball. Did first post Covid gym workout yesterday - felt great to do, but took probably a half hour longer than usual. Weird mental fog finally lifted yesterday. Golfing today - I’m a walker - so we’ll see how that goes. My wife, unlike yours, has it now too.

I think the age (69) might be a factor on slow recovery. I’ll be the judge on your mental fog lifting. I’ve developed a series of simple Leaf questions. I’m not sure you’re ready yet.

The Leafs have informed teams they're open to trading the rights to pending UFA Ilya Mikheyev.

Colorado also traded two absolute core pieces - Matt Duschene, and Ryan O Reilly - during this process when the knew they had to do something to get better. Sakic was not afraid to change his core. They didn't just magically stop losing by running the same group back again and again.

You mean when those players asked to be traded and the GM had no choice?

Yes, Freddie is a better goalie but everyone here wanted him run out of town and earlier this year were ready to give Campbell $6 or 7M/year.

You only speak for most people here, not everyone.

I wanted Freddy back.

I agree with all of this. I do so because I can't find the benefit in spending the summer obsessively posting on here about how (frank)ed we are and then watching every single game next season like a complete sucker.
- joel878

Someone also thought the Leafs would miss the playoffs and they went on to set a franchise record for points. So...

I've been pretty vocal on not wanting MAF, but I'd do that goalie stuff.

Chicago should owe Dubas a favour, so maybe Mrazek straight up?
