So Joel Farabee, a professional athlete, was warming up with light bench presses and injured his neck bad enough for surgery?

Not buying that it isn't connected to anything else.

a few years ago I was doing 5 pound dumbell curls, I blew out my biceps, and got a fracture in my elbow.

Bill,

What's the read on Brad Lambert. In the past he was talked about as maybe just up there at the top with Wright. Did he struggle that bad? He seems like he has all the tools.

- J35Bacher

He has dropped significantly. Maybe a trade down candidate at a certain level.

So 9 months or so after Ellis' injury and we still don't know. We're NOW at the time for him to ramp up his rehab so we can see how he progresses. 9 Months in. I don't know about anyone else but I'm confident.

What do you want them to say. I am not a doctor. Are you a doctor? Maybe there is only so much info they can give.

Could it be this is the process Ellis wants to take so they are limited in what they can do? I am not sure how all that medical stuff works but if Ellis wants to do it one way I am not sure the Flyers can really do much.

So you think that's what it is? They know exactly what's going on but they just won't tell us? Ellis wanted to take 9 months off so he can just now get to the point where he ramps up his rehab in the hope of being ready for the upcoming season?

The I'm not a doctor, you're not a doctor comment is just plain asinine.

You may not be sure but I'm sure. According to the CBA, the team has final say on medical matters with players.

Flyers deserve all the skepticism, but I don’t find much alarming about the press conference. When it comes to core injuries they take time, especially if it all of his core. I tweaked a tendon in my core playing a few years ago, I kept playing but really 2 years before it went away, that’s a tweak, playing adult hockey. It was amazing how a small tweak took power away and was a nagging pain in the ass. They are super fit, that’s a plus but they push hard and IF true, it is his whole core, I can see it being a year long issue, with no real clear timeline.

So you don't find it alarming that 9 months after the injury, they still don't have a definitive idea on his progress? That just now, he is going to start aggressive rehab and they'll see how it goes? What does it's is his whole core mean? When is the last time you heard of a hockey player injuring his whole core? I can see a rehabilitation from a major injury taking a full year but along the way, there is an actual diagnosis and a clear progression happening along the way.

Here's a question... if TOR really wanted to spend $3-4M on a 20-goal man, why wouldn't they just re-up Miheyev?

And if they loved JVR that much, wouldn't it make sense for them to bank some cap space and then bring him in at the TDL instead of now? Like you said, their top-heavy lineup is enough to get them into the POs w/o JVR.

You're deflecting with all this talk about Jumbo, who only spent 1-season there and played well.

- Tomahawk

Miheyev plays RW based on what I’ve seen. There is a pretty big drop off between Pierre Engvall and Michael Bunting by almost 30 points, who are both left wingers. Let me ask you this. Why would Toronto go into the 2020-21 season with Joe Thornton as their LW next to Matthews and Marner and start a rookie (Bunting) at LW on the top line in 2021-22 season? Because they’re not strong on the left side. It’s not a deflection, it’s exactly what Toronto has done. Simmonds, Thornton and Spezza are cheap bandaids Toronto have gone right for every off season. Patrick Marleau as well in recent years who was expected to be a major contributor.

JvR was due a raise and the leafs knew in advanced Tarvares wanted to come home…

Sorry to carry this over. I had to go to work and you asked the question. Did I cover all bases?

Oh sure but Farabee got hurt a few days ago and they can tell us exactly what his injury is. That he had a disc replacement surgery and even give us the Doctor's name who performed the surgery. Told us he had the surgery and didn't need a hospital stay.

However with Ellis, they're limited on what they can tell us. Hey, I buy that.

Why they deserve doubt, they need to provide more facts for sure, but no, if it is truly a severe core issue, I don’t find it odd it is taking this long and he is just now amping up his workout. I went to the doc twice, he said nothing we can do, just time, rest and stop playing.

Fletcher just gave us a bunch of GM talk. He should have just said the truth that Ellis will be out this season again and it will be months before we know if Farabee will ever be able to play hockey at a high level again. This was the news that I didn't want to hear, but I knew was coming. It's gonna be another long season in Philly.

Again, there is a difference between a recovery taking this long and a situation where 9 months later, they still don't really know much and can't any definitive prognosis.

Again, what is a sever core issue? Do you know of another player with a general description of his injury given as a sever core issue? There is a reason why they can't tell us specifically what his injury is. With all the miracles of modern medicine available.

Not impossible but this is a pretty meh draft.
- bmeltzer

Pretty interesting that’s the consensus now. Not long ago, the experts were saying this was a stacked draft and 2023 was going to be even better. Now that expectations have been lowered, do you think they’ll be a reality check later on the 2023 draft?

So reading the CBA it does not seem like they have to give details if he looked for a second opinion. If so the team has to serious consider the 2nd opinion that the player got. Could two doctors have differing opinions on what the true issue is and how to handle it and that's what caused a lot of the delays and why they won't say exactly the area affected or what's going on.

I mean we know it is a core muscle injury or that area. Sometimes those things take a very long time.

That is the rub, they won’t be specific. You are guessing and I am guessing. I do believe he is where they say today and I do believe they are optimistic but there is a chance it won’t. We know the core affects your skating A lot. There were days I thought it was gone and the next time I skated or worked out, it was there again. I much preferred my knee sprain, knew what it was and ballpark how long
