That is the rub, they won’t be specific. You are guessing and I am guessing. I do believe he is where they say today and I do believe they are optimistic but there is a chance it won’t. We know the core affects your skating A lot. There were days I thought it was gone and the next time I skated or worked out, it was there again. I much preferred my knee sprain, knew what it was and ballpark how long - wcorvette
Basically, everything in his midsection (abdominal muscles, pelvis, groin, hips) has been problematic but no one thing damaged enough to indicate surgery. That's been the official word.

Yep they have no idea.....so they say - hello it's me 2050
If true, he can’t skate through the injuries, each injury it makes no sense to operate, then time and rest is the only solution. I am with MJL on the front about modern medicine and it is so hard to believe they can’t fix this.
So reading the CBA it does not seem like they have to give details if he looked for a second opinion. If so the team has to serious consider the 2nd opinion that the player got. Could two doctors have differing opinions on what the true issue is and how to handle it and that's what caused a lot of the delays and why they won't say exactly the area affected or what's going on.
I mean we know it is a core muscle injury or that area. Sometimes those things take a very long time. - J35Bacher
What section of the CBA are you referring to? So they can give details if there is one doctor offering an opinion but they can't if it's a 2nd opinion?
Yes, sometimes core injuries take a long time but along the way they can tell us what the specific injury is and what the timetable is. They can adjust the time table if it comes to that. None of that is the case here.

No, the rub is not that they won't be specific. The rub is that they can't be specific. 9 months in and they can't be specific on any factor. Whether it's the specific injury or timetable for recovery. They still don't know!
It does? Does a doctor telling you there is a problem with your arm but can't tell you what specific part of your arm is causing the issue. It's the entire arm! With all of the medical and diagnostic medicine available.

He needs to get out there and skate until whatever is bothering him fully tears. Then he can get it fixed.
I’m with you on this one. I just thought he was so much more noticeable in the U18 over many of the players listed here. Like Cooley, Nazar, Gauthier and others. I doubt they take him at 5 but if they move back 3-4 spots maybe.

IMO there is much more to this story.
Agree 100% that they cant diagnose and fix it; or maybe they did diagnose and it is the end of his career yet they don't want to say that at this stage. 9 months and no progress? Come on man as President Joe would day

Oh sure but Farabee got hurt a few days ago and they can tell us exactly what his injury is. That he had a disc replacement surgery and even give us the Doctor's name who performed the surgery. Told us he had the surgery and didn't need a hospital stay.
However with Ellis, they're limited on what they can tell us. Hey, I buy that. - MJL
HIPAA is a thing. That said idk why an athlete would play that card going on this long. They’re getting paid either way.

Bill,
What's the read on Brad Lambert. In the past he was talked about as maybe just up there at the top with Wright. Did he struggle that bad? He seems like he has all the tools. - J35Bacher
Off the chart elite tools/skating, but so far unable to translate that into production.

He’s probably shot up the board more than any other player. I think maybe your looking at old material. He’s easily top 10 almost everywhere now. - Djapana
Everything I’ve seen the last few months has him as a mid to late 1st. If they want to draft him, fine. But they really should move back and get an asset if they’re going after a late riser or a reach.
Imo they’re in a position where BPA makes 100% sense and to me there’s just no way that’s him at 5.
Lol it’s up to the player. Farabee obviously doesn’t have an issue with them disclosing his injuries. Ellis apparently does. - hereticpride
Yea I got that and really that's a stretch. You think that Ellis is preventing the Flyers from disclosure? I seriously doubt that.
I'll give you my layman's speculative read on this. The Flyers are not hiding anything from us. They're telling us what they know. 9 months in. This is not an injury per se that be diagnosed with an MRI or other diagnostic tools. It's not an injury that they can prescribe a targeted rehabilitation to. This is a player who has broken down physically and his body can no longer handle playing the game at the NHL level. It's extreme wear and tear. I pray that I'm wrong.

Who in due time will be a flyer - hello it's me 2050
I mean, might not be a bad thing. He has the absolute highest pure upside of anybody in the draft. Rather take a chance on a forward like him than go for the safe pick like Cutter.

Edit: Nashville knew this was coming. - MJL
It makes sense, and answers the question you were asking, why trade Ellis for so little? Now we know why.
