Doesn't matter now. He has rescinded his trade request because the coach he didn't like is gone. Your 'value' player is in Boston to stay. Hope he can manage 30-40 points on his contract with no help to start the season.
And creating plays on your own is far more.thsn unassisted goals. It's making things happen on the ice when your line needs a boost. It's stepping up when your team needs it. Debrusk doesn't do that. He rides the coat-tails of players better than he is.
Kid is a third liner at best. But I guess I'll take him over the crap Sweeney has signed in free agency. Rather have a polished turd than just loose lumps of poop - dothedougie
Fine. Keep him he occasionally scores which more than any of the forwards besides the top line and Hall contribute to this mediocre forward core. Bigger problem is on defense namely Grzelyck and Carlo. Dumping both of their contracts is far more helpful than trading DeBrusk. |

Yeah, they need some help back there. Be nice to see a little snarl back there. Now its the hurry up and wait game until free agency gets here. Wonder if good ol' Donny is going to make any moves at the draft. |

That's just it. Carlo is probably just a Mello guy. He makes good decisions with the puck for most part and has a great stick. His play in front of the net and in the slot is where he is deficient. He let's opposing players post up with little to no difficulty.
Need a complete player as a replacement. You have Lindholm now. You don't need 2-3 softer guys in the top 4. It's going to burn McAvoy out.

This is all pretty much true. I can't help but feel like DeBrusk isn't the type of guy you want on the team though. Younger guys see the crap he pulls and think it's ok. Coast for seasons on end, put up borderline 2nd line numbers, and piss and whine your life away until you get what you want (and probably don't deserve). He should've been traded the first week after he asked for a trade.
And to all you DeBrusk jock-holders, I hope you enjoy watching subpar efforts on both ends of the ice for the next 3 years. |

Part of me thinks that Carlo is going to stick around so they can see how he does under Montgomery's coaching. He is supposed to be good with younger guys. I guess we will see.

He's not. Their choices are limited. Haula and the Coyle line had a good season. I'm not 100% convinced that's going to be a consistent thing.

Coyle has a $5.25M Cap-hit. Not sure his 44 pts and minus-6 qualifies as a "good season".
Haula was a bargain compared to Coyle.

I agree. He is not living up to the deal. Not even close.
