Not just prospects but pros. Imagine if Ovi or Kaprizov etc were drafted? I’m not sure if any of the Russian players went back there this offseason but what would stop the govt from detaining them??

Send in Seal Team 6 to have him extracted. Dave Scott can give them a blank check.

Fedotov has a very talented upside, and future if he's ever allowed to play..but it's the chance you take nowadays, if you draft a Russian player. It's a damned shame.

Those Ukrainians aren't gonna kill themselves. Supposedly both sides are 500+ KIA/week. Putin needs cannon fodder for all the US weapons being shipped over.

If I am an NHL GM, there's no way I'm drafting Russian players who are at home. Heck what's to stop Putin from demanding veterans return home ? Bad situation all the way around.

A savy GM take s a shot later in the draft if players start to fall. Acquire 6 and 7th rd picks!!!!

Ivan Fedotov, the @NHLFlyers prospect, has been arrested in Moscow for "draft evasion." His crime was wanting to go to the NHL and thus displeasing his CSKA bosses. His punishment will be going to the military, perhaps even to the war


This is going to have a massive effect I think on young russian players.

Russian players values going to tank in this draft. If he can’t come over and play why would they allow anyone else. Maybe grab someone with a 6th or 7th and hope it works out in the long run.

My understanding was he was in Russia then came over to visit teams. Though not 100% sure.

Players for CSKA are still considered part of the military. I'm guessing he tried to leave the team and they threatened to put him on the first train to Ukraine if he did.

The problem in Russia sucks. The Flyers can't catch a break.

The Draft is coming up and some people have the Flyers taking Logan Cooley or Jiricek. Jiricek had knee surgery in January. He's a 6'3", 190 lbs at 18 yrs old, so I like his size, but the knee surgery worries me. It reminds me of Sam Morin. I really don't want to waste a #5 draft pick on damaged property, like the Flyers did with the #2 pick of Nolan Patrick.

Is Jiricek the only top-10 prospect to have ever sustained an injury in their careers? If not, then why is he the only one having an injury (that he's already fully recovered from) held against him?

Jiricek will be gone before your pick, no problem!
