That's a completely different situation. Yzerman didn't trade Drouin because he didn't want to wait on him. Drouin wanted out. - MJL
Oh that’s right! Drouin was making things difficult in Tampa because he wasn’t getting the playing time he wanted. |

All I know is what is said and posted about him on here. I haven't read anything that should scare someone. Hell, I'm hoping he is the pick. - MJL
I'm fine with just about anybody at #5OA. I'm down for Jiricek, Lambert, Cutter, Mintyukov... whoever the team feels strongly about. There are no bullet proof picks and it's gonna be a year where the "consensus" isn't worth much at all in hindsight.
Also wouldn't be surprised to see somebody currently ranked top-4 fall into the Flyers' laps, a la Coots. |

Unless someone drops, I'm afraid the Flyers are going to pick Jiricek. - Glak18
I see him as the most risky out of the top 5 but he is intriguing. Pretty smart player with some unique physical tools. Pretty good combination. If he didn’t injure his knee I would guess he would be the first D to go in this draft. |

Why not? Rebuild or no rebuild, they still need players to play.
TK's production probably skyrockets w/ Kane and they can pump and dump him as gets nearer to the end of his contract for even more assets.
It's Debrincat that actually makes no sense for the Flyers. (Unless you live in Chuck Fletcher's Fantasyland) - Tomahawk
Yes they still need players. Acquiring one that isn’t in their time frame to compete would shock me.
They will not trade and younger better winger for an older not as good winger. That is how I see it. Unless the rest of what they are looking for is very close to also going the other way.
You are throwing out what if scenarios. If Kane is traded then what? Maybe his production drops off.
I agree for what they have to give up, assuming the reports are true, it isn’t worth it on the Flyers end. |

Maybe you’re right and there is nothing here to worry about. I think there are big supporters for about 6 different wingers, everyone seems to have their favorite. Looking at clips and listening to a scout wax eloquently on about their strengths and the possibilities makes me feel like it is a sales pitch. Sure that one sounds good…. - NC Flyers Fan
If you read up on Slafkovský and watch the clips on him you will like what you see. He is strong and has a great shot. Good skater. Plays with men already and is on a roll. This is a weaker top end draft but he is a solid pick if they get the chance. Same with The other four picks. The Flyers have a shot at a top pairing defender or top line forward (potential). |

Lots of rumors out there, seems a good bit more than last year, should be a fun FA season |

TK'd just be part of the deal. There would still be high pick(s) and prospect(s) and possibly even more going along with him, right?
We know the 'Hawks would have to take back salary to make it work for the Flyers. Out of all the Flyers' players, TK is probably the most desirable. He's locked in at a reasonable sum for 3-seasons and he's one of the few Flyers players who's actually productive. All those make him fairly easy to move to another team should the 'Hawks decide to flip him down the road.

I don't think they end up trading Kane or Toews. Neither would agree to it. Kane will probably extend and finish his career there despite the rebuild. |

My guess is simple.
Whatever CF does will set us back further and farther to a galaxy far far away.
It is our destiny! |

Yeah, I’m more in line with not doing a tone this year. The market is weak to move higher salary guys right now. I think CF is looking to move JVR and it is not going to be a value worth move. I’d rather ride out most of this year and flip him at the deadline. |

I do not think Kane stays. Toews only has 1 year left right? If they are bad I can see him waiving for a last playoff run.
Well we disagree as I don’t see them having much interest in TK.
Asked earlier wonder if Buffalo would have any interest in TK. |

Most teams would have interest in TK. He's a good young player.

You probably hate this question but…who do you think Slafkovsky is comparable to among current NHL forwards?
The first answer I found was Puljujarvi. Well, he is a big body and only 24, but he has just been okay. I guess I am hoping for more than that with this pick if they get a winger.

He is a RHD that pretty much resembles Sanheim. 6’3” 190 pound mobile defender. Saw a breakdown of a random international game and his gap control was outstanding. Pretty smart decision making as to when to jump up on the play. Maybe not as smart as Nemec (who is considered to have one of the highest hockey IQ’s in the draft) but still smart with some great physical tools. I would take the other four over him but I wouldn’t cry if he ended up a Flyer. |

Not that young as going on his 7th year. |

Good question. Not sure who I would compare him to. He is a strong power forward. Gets physical. Good hands and decent wheels. He’s not pretty with the puck but he has some nice highlight reels. But I don’t see him with that kind of talent. Won’t stick handle around NHL guys. |

Somewhere between Rantanen and Puljujarvi...if a comparison is absolutely needed.

Atkinson, Konency, Brink…when did we become such a small team on the right side?
What was the reported offer for Debrincat by the Flyers? |

He fits fine in a rebuilding timeline. All rebuilding teams have vets that carry the mail until the kids are ready, then get flipped for more assets. 'Hawks, Avs, Bolts, Pens... they all initiated their rebuilds that way. |

Hawks are rebuilding. They do not, it seems, want to extend their own 40 goal scorer. What does that tell you? 24 years old in the beginning of his prime.
When you trade a guy like that you are not looking to acquire other assets you may flip later. You want players/picks that you plan on building around going forward.
Again don’t agree that he fits it fine. |

It's a weaker draft. If the Flyers have the potential to draft a first line forward or a top pair defenseman with the #5 pick. They have to use it. They need quality more than quantity. The Flyers have plenty of lesser talent. They need the straw that stirs the drink. - MJL
They could use some craft ice and top-shelf liquor as well, they have plenty of rock gut booze on the roster |
