Hawks are rebuilding. They do not, it seems, want to extend their own 40 goal scorer. What does that tell you? 24 years old in the beginning of his prime. - furio16
It tells me they believe there's a big discrepancy between his perceived value around the league and his actual value to the team.
They want to capitalize on that, like they did with Hagel.
When you trade a guy like that you are not looking to acquire other assets you may flip later. You want players/picks that you plan on building around going forward. - furio16
Guys get flipped in that scenario all the time. Matt Duchene and Seth Jones come to mind. You hope a guy is a keeper, but if he's not, he still retains a trade value at that age. |

Those guys were not acquired to flip. They tried to win. Big difference. Makes no sense to acquire TK unless they change their rebuild stance.
This horse has been beat enough. If he is traded let’s see what the return is then revisit. |

I said flipping was an option if necessary. Not the main reason they would want TK. |

Trade Hagel trade ADB. Acquire TK. Makes sense.

So for poops and giggles what would adb package be?
I’d say most likely something along lines of
This years first next years first tk? Or sanheim? Provy? Plus? - Stayin alive
I'm surprised your brother's girlfriend's cousin's godmother's dog's groomer's hairdresser didn't supply you with all the inside information on the Flyers going after him in the first place, soowamoo. Your bulletproof rumor network is in shambles. |

Good question. Not sure who I would compare him to. He is a strong power forward. Gets physical. Good hands and decent wheels. He’s not pretty with the puck but he has some nice highlight reels. But I don’t see him with that kind of talent. Won’t stick handle around NHL guys. - peesinwind
Somewhere between Rantanen and Puljujarvi...if a comparison is absolutely needed. - Glak18
Nichuchkin - Minnyhock
It isn’t so much the who of a comparable as it is the what is Slafkovsky’s ceiling. For instance, is it a 50 point per season, power forward who plays 18 minutes a night?
This starts the questions then. Is that the best winger in the draft five years later? Or is it the 60-70 point, 2-way, playmaker who gets 20 minutes on the top line?
Is it better to have that 50 point power forward or would it be better to have a 45 point power forward and 2nd pair RHD? Or a 50 point scorer and 3rd line center?

The Flyers just need high-end talent -- anywhere on the ice to start this aggressive retool |

They need as high end talent as possible. I look at their current roster and it has a bunch of middle six kind of guys. He has top line wing ceiling. His floor is pretty high also. Top six floor is what most believe. Some had him going number one in this draft.
He won’t drop to the Flyers though. Though, I will say that the top 5 picks are all over the place in the rankings. But no one has him falling to 5 that I saw. |

Flyers either select Gauthier as our next middle six center, or one of Nemec/Jiricek.

Another week in Flyerdom. Up and coming hotshot winger just had disc replacement… in the summer… gonna miss the beginning of the season. Our top RHD may be out forever, or may not, no one seems to know. Our anticipated backup 6’6” goalie has been banished to Siberia by the new Soviet Union, only a month after he signed. NJ springboards over us to pick #2 while we drop to #5 for this weeks draft. The Rangers are good now… very good and have a lot of cap space still. The Flyers, well they’re nearly up against the cap and we’re the 4th worst team in the league. Maybe what Fletcher meant by “aggressive retool” was that the Comcast Flyers were switching from Snap-On to Craftsman. We have Torts, that’s good, but ya can’t get blood from a stone. So here’s hoping whatever curse is hanging over our heads gets lifted soon. |

What the Flyers need is to trip and fall on to another Claude Giroux with another 22nd overall pick. Like think about it, if we didn’t accidentally get Giroux, we’d be in even worse shape. |

Don't worry. Dave Scott thinks they can get right back in it.
I would've asked him, "don't you have to have been in it the last decade or so to get right back in it?"

Any of you watch this?
https://youtu.be/luTPYIRTVnU
These are clearly guys who don’t watch the Flyers nightly but what’s sad is, they’re not wrong and this team isn’t tough to figure out. I differ on their feelings about Hayes but their pretty spot on for guys who are clearly not fans.
Like, I looked up Connor Sheary on YouTube after watching this and the results were instantly a ten minute recap of the game these guys are talking about on a goal scored by sheary on Martin Jones. No joke. I barely had to search and I saw the goal. There is a lot to make fun of about our team. Ronnie Attard has no business in the NHL by the way. |

I sure hope it is Nemec. Though I think he will be gone when we pick.
https://theathletic.com/3...04/simon-nemec-nhl-draft/ - MBFlyerfan
I think it’s likely that he goes to Seattle, but Philly has a shot at him sitting there. Gio is obviously gone already, Larsson is, well, Larsson, and I don’t think Dunn is the young franchise defenseman they want to build around.
Then again, they need help everywhere, so maybe they take a forward. I dunno. If Wright, Slafkovsky, and Cooley are the top three picked, Nemec just makes sense there, to me.
If you want Nemec, you likely have to hope that someone like Gauthier or Jiricek are picked up early instead and throw a wrench into the gears. |

It tells me they believe they think they can really jump start their rebuild if they were able to get (potentially) three solid futures for one current stud player who will quite possibly be on the downside of his career by the time the Hawks are ready to seriously compete again.
Most Hawk fans want nothing to do with trading one of the best snipers in the league, but the pragmatic ones realize that he is the most attractive trade option the team has. But the return has to be huge, or it’s not worth it. Kid’s a superstar in the making. |
