Yar, he grew up behind the curtain. He is steeped in the old boys club, where your friends are everything, and one hand always washes the other. He presents himself as a logic-driven builder, but what he's really doing is just emulating daddy. - Tomahawk
its always that "bias for action" mentality that scares me. Chuck needs to realize that saying "no way" is also an action.
I was In the ADB camp for a while until I started reading all the differing opinions on why Chicago was looking to trade him. Bill really hammered it home. With the reported asking price, and the real possibility he would not resign here due to us being in a worse spot than Chicago in terms of rebuilding, ADB has become a hard no for me. Too many assets for a guy that is most likely to leave. And exactly something Bias For Action Man would do. Plus that 9 million QO....jeez
We need Bias for Patience right now. Trade JVR at some point, Maybe trade Lindblom. Get the kids in the lineup wherever possible and just be patient. |

Chuck needs to sell a 2 year plan to the powers that be, then look to load. Everyone was quick to say the AVs took 10-11 years, Hextall took over May 2014, lord knows the Flyers are behind the curve but who says next seasons draft doesn't have a MacKinnon or Makar. With just a decent bounce back by the likes of TK etc, they will gain value, 2024 will be 10 years, lets manage to that...

Doesn’t sound like the Flyers are willing to part with the 5th overall for DeBrincat, at least according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.
“Friedman says he was told that the 5th overall pick was not in the talks when PHI & CHI were engaged on DeBrincat trade talks and when CHI asked for it, PHI backed off. Wonder what else the PHI was offering that CHI was entertaining? #BringItToBroad” |

In relation to DeBrincat who is a 2 time 40 goal scorer and 1 time 30 goal scorer before 25, his long term deal will be above 10 million/yr. Any team that trades him will need to be willing to make him the highest paid player on the roster. CHI has made questionable player moves recently. They signed Seth Jones to a bad long term contract last season. Did they fleece TB on the Hagel deal? Too early to tell, IMO. If the Flyers get him, players like Provy, TK, and even Farabee have trade value to create space. Not suggesting that should happen, but the path is there if DeBrincat is acquired to fit him under the cap long term. I would classify DeBrincat as an elite talent, maybe I am in the minority on that assessment.

At the end of the day, Chuck Fletcher cares about Chuck Fletcher and his little entourage. If he needs to (frank) the Flyers future to keep the gravy train going, he's gonna do it.
The question is... who's actually watching out for the long term health of the franchise? Bob Clarke doesn't have a clue anymore. Homer is Homer. Snider is dead. The answer is probably nobody. |

Fletcher is a lot like the Flyers old guard. They value loyalty to an extreme. Loyalty is an admiral trait but has to be managed so as not to be detrimental to the team. I see Fletcher as being emotional not cerebral. He’s not GM material. Just lucky to be Cliff’s son. - Minnyhock
All you have to do is listen to his press conferences. He does not come off as the guy in charge. He is a corroborator and not a head decision maker. He comes off as the spokesman for the collective.

Their 2023 pick no doubt. Which I hold onto like nobody's business.

He is the decision maker 100%. Now he is likely swayed by others and that is why he is a putz. Though he makes the final call.

Selling a two year plan would also be selling a box of goods. Even if they draft a McKinnon. That doesn't get it done in two years. What team did after drafting a star? Maybe Pittsburgh?

He is a two time 40 goal scorer. The reasons for not making the deal are not about Debrincat as a player.

2 year plan doesn't say win the cup in 2 years, just says reload then, make the big moves then. If CF is truly under a mandate to "win now", he needs to sell something to the powers that be that does not sound like "10 more years" |

Think about it. It's possible that who they draft this year and next, is not making an impact in two years. It's a bill of goods. The reality is that there is no two year plan. That would just be more of the same. They need to do it right and commit.

Got to think the Devils will end up with either JG or DeBrincat. Going to be very interesting leading up to the draft on Friday. - Trox88
Looking forward to Round 2?
Draft starts Thursday. |

Funny all those complaining about Fletcher now, just fell in line like the sheep they are when he was hired. I mean the decade full of futility he produced in Minnesota wasn't a red flag or anything. - PLindbergh31
all i feel is apathy towards the team now |
