I hope thats wrong, I dont want him. He wasnt successful with us or Tampa the first time around. Produced in Vancouver with no pressure. - Brukie
Ya know you guys won’t like this at all but I’m telling you right now and nobody wants to talk about it but maybe trading Laf for a true #1 center is the answer. You aren’t moving Kreider and you aren’t moving Bread. Laf moving to the right wing just don’t know if that’s a realistic option. Would you trade Laf for Norris straight up? Not even sure Ottawa would do that. Would you be willing to trade Laf for Shane Wright? Just food for thought. We need center depth badly and we just don’t have it. Not saying I would do it but just entertain the thought of what you could get if you were to put Laf on the table. What player would you say to yourself wow we traded Laf but they got so and so back and that’s worth it? Curious to hear
you dont think there's pressure in Vancouver? LOL - jimbro83
Nope not last year, they were falling apart. He had a career year when they were chasing a playoff spot when they werent expected to do so. At 29 and then him signing to a 7 or 8 yr deal,, I'll pass.

I'd like to try and build a package around Kakko and Nils Lundkvist for Shane Wright, but like people have pointed out, there's no way the draft is going to be held in Montreal and Montreal trades that first overall pick away
but no, to me, trading Lafreniere is not even something I would consider

I dont know much about Wright but I havent heard he was a cant miss, so who knows. We know what we have with Laffy as he has been making great strides.

This is an unspectacular draft, nobody is a "can't-miss" type of prospect

Upon hearing about the arrest of Ivan Fedotov, Kirill Kaprizov reportedly immediately returned to the United States. His name is linked to fraudulent military IDs being sold to players, including Fedotov, and Kaprizov is now wanted in Russia, per Sport-Express.

This is like being on the wrong side Brass for Zib

Both are centers so don’t really see the comparison on that. Also Mika was older when we traded Brass for him. I’m looking to use our assets to improve in other parts of our team that are much needed. Just don’t know who that player is out there that makes trading Laf worth it. That’s what I struggle with and that’s where probably most people hit a dead end.

This is just plain wrong. If you don’t want him for the contract he’s going to get that’s one thing. But he’s produced big numbers ever since he went to Vancouver and was the one player that actually seemed to give a poop when they were getting pummelled.
Of Kakko, Chytil or Laf, the least likely to be moved is Laf. The asset he has the other two don’t is the ability to snipe. He will become very dangerous from 20 feet in, he has already shown that, and he learned he can stand up for himself. Needs work on his skating this off season, the other two are wild cards. I’m not letting either one stop me from improving the team if need be.

To me the untouchables on ELCs are Schneider, Laf, Miller and Othmann. Anyone else can be dealt for a true, at worst, 2C

After spending 3 years as the de facto 1st overall prospect, Bob MacKenzie dropped Wright to #2 on his final list. And I've heard a couple other sources list him as low as #4. Not sure I'd make that trade right now.

They were saying for some reason that league had a tough year collectively. OHL guys are slipping I guess.

JT Miller agent Brian Bartlett on Miller contract update : “I don’t anticipate that there will be a resolution on extension parameters this week”
Guy is heart-and-soul of the team. You do not trade those players. It can affect others signing here in the future.
Plus the guy scored 50+ and the team just made the conference finals. Why change much? Tweak the center issue and problem solved. Add the experience gained from this past season...
You all know my feelings about Miller, with that said, he isn’t the person we should be going after. The assets it will cost to acquire him, his age and his upcoming contract are all a big no for me. It’s moves like the rumored ones out there (Kakko++ for Miller) that turn our 12-15 year window into a 4-6 year window.
