Arthur Staple column today on Jessica Campbell:
Campbell was headed to New York next week for some experience and a possible long-term situation there — the Rangers have an assistant opening at AHL Hartford and likely would have strongly considered her for the role. But Bylsma reached out in the interim and now Campbell is detouring to Seattle for the Kraken’s development camp.

I’m not in love with the JT miller idea lol I just think that’s what is going to happen. Just seems like the only concrete rumors out there and by a few reliable people saying it. Friedman was leaning that way too

I want small fish. Roy is my guy after carefully dissecting every center in NHL

You all know my feelings about Miller, with that said, he isn’t the person we should be going after. The assets it will cost to acquire him, his age and his upcoming contract are all a big no for me. It’s moves like the rumored ones out there (Kakko++ for Miller) that turn our 12-15 year window into a 4-6 year window.

Our window will be the number of years that Shesty plays

JT Miller agent Brian Bartlett on Miller contract update : “I don’t anticipate that there will be a resolution on extension parameters this week”

It sounds like the Vancouver wants a 1st round pick included, we dont have a first rounder this year, if Drury gives up nexts years, he is a fool.

My point being the team still needs a skills and skating coach and clearly they thought she had upside, just beaten to the punch in hiring her full time.

I just don’t think we need to make this splash. Maybe we could round Namestnikov and Howden back up, include Nils Hajek and Henriksson and VAN will give us a mulligan?

The thing is he will need another contract next year. He will be 30 when he signs his next contract. He had one good year. Do we really want to chance giving up so much for someone who was already here and didnt perform?

Miller will be this years trade deadline get for someone. He’s not the right move for the Rangers because, he’ll be too old to give 6 or 7 years to. Not because he couldn’t help the team be better.

I don’t understand this willingness to accept the real possibility of regression if the club does nothing, or brings in some mediocre player to fill the roster. Yes, Drury is in a tough spot, but do you think for one minute he’s going to have the core four, feel he didn’t do anything to build on last years success.

“Thanks boys, you guys did a great job leading the team last season, but now I’m gonna sit on my hands because there are a few guys who may or may not turn out to be ok need new deals.” So we finish with 80 points instead of over a hundred. Doesn’t work that way.
